About the adventure

Idora is a nation experiencing a revival. After years of war, King Andostian fought and won peace against neighboring nations with his daughter Andica as his right hand. Now Andica is Queen, and Idora is prospering under her strong rule. Until now. You, as a fledgling member of her guardians have found the other detachments of her Knights have fallen to a mysterious illness, leaving the throne without its traditional protectors. Play what you want. Cambar, the capital of Idora, is the beating heart of a continent, and has been for centuries. It is said that if you can't find it in Cambar, it doesn't exist. This goes for guilds as well as the markets. Academies for spell casters, temples for most every faith in the land, mercenary guilds, a monastery that practices and trains the world's foremost martial artists (and even shadier organizations like those of spies, assassins and thieves) are said to be found in Cambar. And the Emerald Knights recruit from them all. What you're in for. Our story starts in the heart of a mystery. Who has attacked the Queen's protectors? What is their goal? How do the remaining Emerald Knights restore its fallen champions while ensuring the safety of Queen Andica. As the plot against Idore plays out, you will be in the unique position to influence events and help forge the future of a nation. What you'll get from me. The nation of Idora is a brand new setting. We'll build it together -- it will be shaped by your input, by what interests you and by what sorts of stories you'd like to explore. We'll build a backstory that takes your character to the current day as a relatively new member of the Emerald Knights. From there we'll explore not only your career as a Knight, but how your personal history intersects with your new career, and all of the trials and tribulations that might arise. You'll grow with your companions: siblings in arms that will have your back, because they know you'll have theirs. My table is inclusive and is a safe place.

About me

Hi, my name is Casey and I DM from Canada with my lovely D&Ding wife and our family of cats. We're in our early forties and generally look for groups of compassionate, imaginative players. My table is a safe place. What I endeavour to provide is a game where everyone feels engaged in a world we all care about with characters you will remember for the rest of your life. I like to reward player ingenuity and foster agency. As I a DM I'm happy to accept players both veteran and new to the hobby.

Character creation

Creating your character

Play starts at level 1. We roll stats at the table (Roll20/Discord) before session 1, but I will work with you on character concepts beforehand. WotC published material is of course acceptable. Setting specific content may require slight modifications to fit the setting. Homebrew and third party with consent.

The current party

A new group of Emerald Knights has completed their first mission and has discovered the reemergence of a long forgotten threat. Will the party make it back to the capital in time to warn the Queen? This is a new weekly game that runs 3-4 hours every Monday at 6 PM Central Time. Players from new to veteran are welcome. This game is played on Discord & Roll20, with character sheets maintained on Roll20.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Mic only. Please setup a free profile on Discord and on Roll20 if you haven't already. DM me on Discord about Class preferences and concept. I will want to know the following about your characters so keep it in mind: Where are they from? If not from the capital, Cambar, why did they leave? What events lead them to their chosen profession(class)? What institution or guild did you they train with in Cambar? What complications do they have in their lives that they'd like to see resolved? What is their long-term goal? (Where do they see themselves five years down the road?) Who are they connected to? (Family or friends?) **Most importantly:** How is this character going to be helpful to the Emerald Knights? What skills do they bring? What is their reason for joining the Emerald Knights? Are they loyalists to the crown, who are seen as benevolent and wise rulers? Are they seeking glory, serving amongst the most elite forces of the land? With the risk of the job comes rewards that are attractive to many.

What Arkayde brings to the table

I will have a Discord server setup for this game where extraneous notes can be kept and where out-of-game discussions can be had. There will also be a game prepared on Roll20 which will have character sheets available to you with access to the PHB, Xanathar's, Tasha's Guide, Volo's and more. We will be rolling stats together! You will get a link to that game at the start of the Session zero. Any third party, UA or homebrew setups must be approved before game start.

Safety

How Arkayde creates a safe table

Expect a mix of combat and roleplay which will likely skew towards roleplay at times. Problems might be resolved through combat or cunning, but when a fight is unavoidable, it will likely be deadly and of dire importance. Exploration of Idora will be central as well -- it's important that the Emerald Knights know the nation they are protecting.
