About the adventure
Two platters of dumplings slide onto the private dining room’s low table. The proprietor, a tight-lipped halfling named Dehrig, reports, “Chicken and leek, plus the three-mushroom special. Still no sign of your gnome.” With a shallow bow, he withdraws, letting early afternoon light spill into the room before he closes the door, leaving the Red Mantis assassins alone as they plane their strike at Doatara Kelorbeyan, the woman who has been recently framing the Red Mantises for sloppy political assassinations. Already the mission has complications. Teskorbito—a gnome alchemist and fellow Red Mantis—hasn’t appeared to join the infiltration team as ordered. Instead, the resourceful mercenary Kangir arrived this morning, having anticipated the Red Mantis’s vendetta against his former boss Doatara, and wanting a piece of the action. “The enemy of my enemy…” and all. By now, though, part of the day is already gone. The Red Mantis have been ordered to gather intelligence, plan their attack, and strike after nightfall, felling Doatara before midnight. There’s enough light left in the day for each team member to perform their own reconnaissance and scouting before the attack begins. Now the only question is: where to start? ---------- "Mark of the Mantis" is a short, one shot module about a group of four level 6 Red Mantis assassins who have been assigned a mission to eliminate one Doatara Kelorbeyan, a devotee of Norgorber and the person responsible for having framed the Red Mantis for several recent, sloppy assassinations of political figures. While the Red Mantis doesn't mind being accused of murder, they do mind having such mediocre jobs on their record! While "Mantis" is a one shot, and while it's completely possible to go through the entire adventure in a single three to four hour session, there's always the possibility of us having loads of fun and maybe taking one more three to four hour session to finish the whole thing! I'm a big fan of letting the players set the pace, so please feel free to roleplay and immerse yourself in the adventure as much as you'd like! "Mantis" is nominally meant to be played with the four premade level 6 assassins. However, with some adjustments, this module can absolutely be played with custom characters. If players choose to create their own level 6 assassins, they can make their custom characters with the Ancestry Paragon variant rule, the Gradual Ability Boost variant rule, and the Free Archetype variant rule. Please see the following link for explanations on these rules, and I can also offer pre-session help with custom character creation: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1297 As a final note, "Mantis" is a somewhat high-skill adventure, and at a relatively high level compared to most of the other official Paizo one shots. Unfortunately, this may not be the best introduction to Pathfinder Second Edition for beginners. I look forward to playing with all of you, and to seeing our vile assassins in action!

Creating your character
"Mark of the Mantis" comes with four, premade, level 6 Red Mantis assassins, all of which are unique and interesting in their own way. However, players are absolutely allowed to create their own level 6 Red Mantis assassins, using the Ancestry Paragon, Free Archetype, and Gradual Ability Boost variant rules, explanations of which can be found here: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1297 Note that every custom character will be required to take the Red Mantis Assassin archetype dedication at level 2. I am also willing to offer out-of-session assistance and advice in character creation for any player who chooses to take that route. Character creation can be done through any app or program, but I highly recommend Pathbuilder as my method of choice: https://pathbuilder2e.com/
One shot. Second session will take place a week after the first, if necessary.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should ensure that they have a relatively functional microphone, along with a relatively quiet place within which to play the game with us. They will also need a relatively modern computer and browser in order to connect to my personal Foundry server. If players opt to create their own characters rather than using a premade one, they will need to have the character completed and ready by the start of the first session. This is *NOT* a learning adventure, so I do expect players to have a reasonable grasp of the system and its rules.
What Allie brings to the table
I will bring the official, Paizo-made maps for "Mark of the Mantis". I will be providing the premade characters prebuilt in Foundry so that we can all jump in and go without too much set-up. I will be providing out-of-session help and assistance in creating custom-made characters, if any player chooses to do so. I will be providing premium Foundry modules in order to enhance immersion and the gameplay experience. And I will bring great vibes and a fun energy!

How Allie creates a safe table
I will use informal safety tools but with a heavy emphasis that I am open and willing to talk about any issues that arise, and I will do my best to foster a safe and comfortable environment where people can easily do such. I will always show up before and remain after for at least 10 minutes every session in order that everyone has a chance to talk to me or other players about the game as needed. I will make myself available outside of the regular session hours as needed in order to handle any questions or other issues brought up by my players.
