About the adventure
Greetings! I want to bring DnD's most amazing Gothic horror to life and I want your help! I will be running the Curse of Strahd campaign and would love to call all adventure seekers to the table. Curse of Strahd is regularly voted the best campaign for 5e and I don't disagree! I want to invite all players, brand new and seasoned vets alike to really get lost in an amazing world of magic, curses and hope on the brink. Curse of Strahd is a vampire story at it's core, but it is really a story of resistance, resilience and redemption; can your character stand strong and face evil, or maybe you cannot answer that...yet? If you think this sounds fun, let's do it!! Don't worry if you are new, we got this, it's gonna be great!! I want to run a game that has a theme and direction but puts an emphasis on creative and collective story-telling, so that we all have fun. As a GM I'm very open to new ideas and my number one rule is that everyone's fun is top priority. I want to play with anyone who prioritizes the camaraderie of playing. Roleplay is totally encouraged, but everyone plays how they want or feel, because odds are none of us are professional actors. No one needs to be to tell an awesome story which will go as far as your imagination can go. It will be much theater of the mind with the aid of a bit of some new tech to fill in the gaps of not sitting face to face. Planning on a session 0 which is an intro to the campaign, themes and making sure everyone is comfortable with them and safe role play boundaries. We'll talk dnd in general, characters and making one and players hopes for the campaign, etc. and then we'll go from there. p.s. language will occasionally receive an R rating

About me
About a year ago I caught the D&D bug hard! I love the magic that happens when a group of adventurers lose themselves in a story, pushing their imaginations and building connections at the table. I enjoy both sides of the dm screen and see the dm role as being a catalyst for the players to explore an awesome world. I like an open enough world to avoid railroading a story, but enough plot to actually feel that there are stakes and important things to do. Being somewhat newer to the game I don't always know every tiny rule in the moment, but feel that fun at the table comes before any rules and we can always learn things together. My players always have fun, especially when they bring an open mind and a vibe that prioritizes fun and camaraderie at the table! I want the table to be an open and safe space for all.

Creating your character
Characters will be created whenever you decide you want to play!! So, at the beginning of the campaign we will create together in session 0, but this can be a deadly campaign, so we will create new characters as necessary.

Preparing for the session
Prepare as much as you want to! There is no amount of prep that you will regret doing, so do as much as is fun. Get an account on dischord and roll20. DndBeyond is a great place to create a character and play around with it. All are free.

How Sam creates a safe table
Will be running a session 0 where we will discuss and agree on all of the over all themes of the campaign, the idea of content and role play triggers and a safe word that can be communicated either publicly or fully privately to take a step back. At the end of each session a 10 min discussion where everyone gets a chance to share one thing they loved and one thing that they would love to see in the future.
