About the adventure

Ho Adventurer! Please stay a while and listen! This is a great campaign and the perfect time to join! Our Heroes (neutral and good aligned) are beginning "second half" of the first adventure called "Hoard of the Dragon Queen," (in the two-part adventure series known as the Tyranny of Dragons). Our Heroes are about to depart from Waterdeep and continue to try and figure out what the cultists are doing. Feel free to join us and roll up a level 5 character. IMPORTANT: We are resetting our sessions to begin at 1 since this is starting point of the game half way through and a perfect place for new players to begin with some gold in their pocket and some cool abilities! Let's roll some dice and have fun! Whether you are an experienced player looking to practice your character voices, get some extra adventuring in, or want to try out a new character type or a new player looking to learn how to play an adventure, you are in the right place. If you already play D&D and are looking for another game or are a GM looking for a game to play in, then this is for you too! We will be using Foundry VTT and Discord to host our game. There will be maps, music and more! At Only Dragons we are currently running Rime of the Frost Maiden, Curse of Strahd, Tyranny of Dragons, Lost Mines of Phandelver, Dragon of Icespire Peak, and Dragons of Stormwreck Isle in addition to various other one-shot and play by post adventures. We are currently running games every night of the week. Come for the game, stay for the community, laughs and adventures!

About me

Hey folks! My name is Paul and I'm on the East Coast United States. I been a fan of D&D since the 80's starting with the Saturday morning cartoons. Back then it was always difficult to find a gaming group and learn how to play but since StartPlaying has bridged that gap, let's get some adventuring done. Onward! I've been playing CRPG's video games, and boardgames for 40+ years. My first RPG was "Tunnels of Doom on the TI 99 4A". Since then, adventuring has been in my blood. I've played mainly RPG's on PC (Hillsfar, Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, Fallout, Skyrim, Witcher 3, & currently playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous) as well as older RPG's like D&D, Marvel and Star Frontier. I've read through the early Drizzt novels multiple times. I love the FR world and characters like Drizzt and co., Alias, Dragonbait, Elminster, etc. On the hobby side, we can also chat about miniature painting, audiobooks/books, comics, (solo) board gaming (I really enjoy a good dungeon crawl! no surprise there), and more. If the Critical Role theme song gives you chills, then I just may be the DM for you. I love watching characters develop, unlock new skills and abilities while helping their group progress in the story. I love adventure, story, and exploration. Two of my favorite words in the English language: Quest and Adventure! My games will be laid back. We are here to have fun. If you are new to D&D, let's give this adventuring business a try together. I've played D&D 5e, older version of D&D (redbox and some AD&D), the old Marvel (yellow box) and Star Frontiers RPG games from way back. "Pull up a chair near the hearth with me. Stay a while and listen. Enjoy the background music and tavern chatter. Once the rest of the adventurers, your friends, are gathered, we will speak of a land and of dragons." I am an adjunct teacher at a local University. I enjoy gaming and want to help bring D&D and RPG's to everyone, especially new players. Everyone is welcome at my game table, and I expect all players to keep it a safe space where we can have fun and take risks together regardless of nationality, gender, religion, or orientation. You are absolutely welcome here 🤟💚💛🧡 Now let's roll some dice! 🎲🙀🙊😮

Character creation

Creating your character

How will character creation work For simplicity as this is an adventure meant for new players, we will use either the progenerated 1st level characters from the adventure or you may customize a character using the races/classes listed in the Player's Handbook. In the meantime you can totally think about the type of character you'd like to play, and I will do my best to help you choose a race/class combination that will fit the type of character you're looking to play!

The current party

This game started with Dragons of Stormwreck Isle. After defeating Sparkrender, our heroes decided to find out what crashed into the Island before venturing forth to find out why another blue dragon was attacking towns, this time on the Sword Coast.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Working Mic is needed. You will need a working laptop, PC, Mac or tablet for VTT functionality. You will need to set up free accounts on the following sites in order to play: D&D beyond, Discord (for voice and chat functionality) and Foundry VTT (virtual tabletop). All of these are free. Webcam is optional.

What Paul brings to the table

I provide players in my campaigns access to Players Handbook, Sword Coast Adventurer's guide, Eberron: Rising from the Last War, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and Xanathar's Guide to Everything on dndbeyond so they can customize their characters. I'll provide the adventure (no physical or digital copies) along with the laughs, shenanigans, intrigue, action, adventure, and of course some over-the-top character voices.

Safety

How Paul creates a safe table
