Meet the Game Master
About me
Experienced RPG player and DM/GM. I have years of experience as a Convention GM (online and in person), running games for gaming companies, organizations and charities. I am always ready to play an old game or learn a new one. I run my games "Convention Style," which means friendly to all levels of beginner. It also means heavy into role-playing Player-Character's strengths, weaknesses, faults, feats and flaws with occasionally competing and conflicting goals and agendas, while still being a "team." In addition, it means heavy on the action, some puzzles and mystery while introducing the game and its dimensions to the learning player. I have been playing Role Playing Games since the 70s and 80s when they first came out. I had the luck to grow up near Lake Geneva, WI--where Dungeons and Dragons was born. I grew up playing D&D and other role playing games and board games with my friends. We started with Beginner and Expert set and followed to Advanced D&D books and modules when they came out. We also played quite a bit of Car Wars, Boot Hill, Star Frontiers, Top Secret, Gamma World, as well as BattleTech, Traveller and Call of Cthulhu as we got older. We made it all the way to Shadowrun and Vampire: The Masquerade, in early graduate school. I didn't play much 3.5 but read the books at coffee-shop/bookstores during study breaks. Played a lot of different styles and types of board games, Carcassone, Catan, San Juan, Alto Plano as well as the old standards of Chess, Monopoly, Life and Risk. I got to attend a few of the early GenCons and even played some in the RPGA Society (which is now the Adventurer's League for D&D 5E or Organized Play for Pathfinder and Starfinder). Oh Yeah! I even had a subscription to Dragon Magazine. I am easy and fun to play with--I usually stick to stock or core characters and races. I enjoy playing with new players and new DMs, cause everyone's got to learn somehow and I like getting people into new games. I am always up for a game of D&D5e, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller or Savage Worlds. I am currently running a D&D5e in person game of the Saltmarsh Campaign at my local game store. I have also organized a local gaming society/guild and we are currently running three separate groups at local gaming stores and homes. In the past year or so, I have run four different Starfinder groups, a Deadlands group/campaign and a Shadow of the Demon Lord group/campaign. I GM Starfinder, Pathfinder (mostly 2e, but some 1st edition), Cthulhu, Traveller, Runequest/Heroquest (Glorantha), 7th Sea, Nations and Cannons and Wurm at on-line conventions for gaming companies, local game stores, gaming organizations, charities and VTT and other online support sites. I started with designing my own adventures of Delta Green and Cthulhu on Roll20. When I started Online Gaming, I ran Traveller adventures (designed by me, but based on real product) as well as running "How To" events on Online Gaming for Traveller and other online conventions. I used to run many "free" "Learn-N-Play" games of Traveller, SotDL, Deadlands, Path1 "Mummy's Mask" and "Skulls and Shackles;" and various Savage World games like Flash Gordon, Weird Wars Rome, Lankhmar, Fifty Fathoms, SW Pathfinder1 on Fantasy Grounds Unity for Fantasy Grounds Academy. I have also done some Pathfinder2e "one shots" and campaign 'intros" on Roll 20 for Pathfinder/Paizo and Roll20. I am/was a Paizo organized play player and GM for Starfinder, PF1 and PF2e. I am interested in learning FATE better, learning Savage Worlds better, running an Achtung Cthulhu, running a Conan campaign (got to learn 2d20 better), and learning more about RuneQuest.

Creating your character
We will brainstorm/character create in the first hour of the session. You can read the free players guide at Paizo.com, which gives really cool background to building adventure appropriate characters.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Watch "10,000 BC." Read/watch "Clan of the Cave Bear. Look at pictures of the Lascaux Cave Paintings. Dream of Mammoths, Smilodons and the "birth of humankind."
