About the adventure

Curse of Strahd is a staple module that every D&D enthusiast should get the chance to run or play. Having run CoS once before (11/15 chapters) for my first host on this website I thought this would be how I can run the most professional and enjoyable game possible! The play by post format allows for flexibility and a chance to employ your writing talents into a D&D game. The game will be asynchronous, the session times represent how much I expect to participate in game a week. I use Avrae for characters and rolls, as well as Tupperbox to send messages from NPCs. I have run multiple PBP games and have over the years developed a professional system of server management for ease of use for myself and players. The way I run the game is heavily influenced by my own ideas, others recommendations on improving the campaign, and what players I have at my table, and all the while I try to stick to the core values of the staple module.

About me

I absolutely love Dungeons and Dragons. As a Dungeon Master I have a passion for creating- creating everything- I've spent hours upon hours devising plots, locations, monsters, encounters, NPCs, tailor made to the best of my ability for my players to enjoy. I have been online and offline dungeon mastering for 5 years on and off, and have had a few opportunities to be a player as well. I pride myself that everything I create is unique and original, but sometimes I do find inspiration from my favourite video games, movies or Critical Role. Over the years I've run Lost Mines of Phandelver, Curse of Strahd; both almost to completion, as well as short homebrew games; one where my players collected magical ingredients for a famous chef, one where my players were hired to help an isolated town with their issues and mysteries, and another where my players were captured and had to escape an exceptionally uncomfortable dungeon.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start at level 1, any sourcebooks for character creation are okay, if you're unsure, just ask. I like to work thoroughly with each player during character creation, so we can make sure they fit the tone and I can incorporate their personal narrative into the campaign. For stats you can either point buy, or roll a set of stats with avrae in our dedicated chat.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The only thing you'll need is the Discord app on your phone or computer, we will use roll20 for combat, so preferably a computer or the likes that can run it. There will be an #info channel with everything you'll need to know before the game starts. Preferably you don't come with a character pre-prepared, but if you're open to workshop them with me then it's totally fine.

What Michael Fletcher brings to the table

Unfortunately, I do not have books on D&D Beyond, but I do have PDFs which I can share as required to my players. I often digitally illustrate NPCs, maps, monsters and the likes to enhance the visuals to our games. In a less physical sense, I like to bring fresh ideas, an open mind and an enjoyable game for my players.

Safety

How Michael Fletcher creates a safe table

With the nature of PBP, role-play can take up majority of our play time, but combat will be important to the module. I prefer more conversation-like posts so that players get more chances to bounce off each other, but longer and more descriptive posts are also welcome.
