About the adventure
This is a D&D campaign in a homebrewed setting. Expect this to be a long running game, one that should carry characters through level 20. The Kingdom of Darendull is the setting for this campaign, a usually peaceful Kingdom situated on the coast of the somewhat newly discovered continent that it is found upon. The world itself is also unique and mostly created from ideas offered by previous players in this setting. It is an open setting, allowing players a chance to come up with new lore and such to allow new ideas for characters, cultures, and races to flourish and even be a little different from the expected. The usual scope of the setting revolves around Darendull itself so that players may feel able to add in what they might like to encourage uniqueness without making their ideas seem alien or like they don't immediately fit in with the setting itself. This campaign will be beginner friendly and will start at level 1. An extensive knowledge of D&D lore and rules is not required. In this setting, many things found within the known lore of D&D will still apply but can be changed or even done away with to make the story flow better, these things will be discussed as they become relevant. Any WoTC published material is welcome, and some homebrew will be allowed but scrutinized heavily. The story for this campaign will center on a strange occurrence in which dinosaurs, which were previously unknown to most and usually contained in a specific mountain range within the setting, are suddenly loose and threatening the entire region. The players will be expected to create and play characters who will be tasked with figuring out what exactly is going on and how the threat can be contained.
Game style
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
The party has uncovered some powerful secrets about the world, though lies and manipulations abound. Dinosaurs, which until recently were practically unheard of, now roam the land and the true danger of what's happening is beginning to make itself known. As of Jan 21, the characters are level 6, and we love to welcome players to our table.

How to prepare
A mic is required as this game will be hosted on roll20 and Discord. Knowing the rules of D&D is encouraged but unnecessary as this will be beginner friendly and I'm happy to teach new players.
What I provide
I will bring a ready campaign full of adventure. I have resources to share with players should they need any. I will bring positivity and an encouraging attitude as well as my love for this game and my excitement to see others enjoy it as well.
Gameplay details
I try to stick by the rules as written, at least at first. As the group gets to know each other better and we can all settle in and relax a bit more, things will loosen up fairly quickly. I like to allow player creativity and do my best with "yes and..." though there will come times where suggestions and ideas really won't mesh with gameplay very well but I will work with players to work through the things they want to do in game to try to come to a suitable outcome. As long as it's in the name of fun and doesn't just ruin the experience or challenge of the game, rules are meant to just be a guideline and can therefore be broken, bent, etc. The main goal of ttrpgs is to have fun telling a story as a group and I like to try to emphasize that when I can at the table.

How will character creation work
Character creation can happen before game, however, there will be a session 0 in which we will have time to create characters together so that ideas may be bounced off each other and help and guidance can be given to anyone who wants it. I do not have the subscription to D&DBeyond to share books and the character creator and I will expect character sheets to be migrated to roll20 if they're not made on roll20 initially. I do have other ways to ensure players have access to books and other character creating content though. Characters will start at level 1. As mentioned before, all WoTC published material is acceptable, please ask me about specific homebrew before assuming it is OK. I will note that this game won't be doing much, if anything, in Wildspace or the Astral Sea so a lot of the Spelljammer content might not be very useful to characters in this campaign. Bear in mind, we will be using milestone advancement. For anyone wishing to make their character before session 0, we'll have a brief discussion in private messages, please.
