About the adventure

Players interested in a classic style dungeon crawl with a twist can take their characters from level 5 to 20 in this adventures set in the Forgotten Realms. The tavern of "The Yawning Portal" is a famous inn and tavern located near the eastern slope of Mount Waterdeep, derives its name from a 40-foot-diameter well that descends into the first level of Undermountain. Located in the center of the taproom, the well was once the outer shell of the wizard Halaster’s mighty tower, which was demolished long ago. Its sheer walls are made of old mortared stones. Next to this gaping orifice hangs a winch with a simple rope-and-pulley mechanism that Durnan, the proprietor, uses to lower adventurers down the shaft and (sometimes) pull them up again. Adventurers who hang around the Yawning Portal often find work delving into Undermountain on a dare of even on paid errands of others. Do you have what it takes to delve into Undermountain and survive?

About me

I have been playing D&D for over 20 years. I started with AD&D 2nd Edition, played 3rd, 3.5, 4, and now using 5th Edition. I enjoy the cooperative story woven between the players and DM. I am currently hosting three weekly games online as well as one shots and events. I am also a paraeducator running after school programs for two school districts. Offering education based D&D for students K-8th and a standard D&D experience focusing on storytelling for students in 9th-12th grade. "The essence of a role-playing game is that it is a group, cooperative experience. There is no winning or losing, but rather the value is in the experience of imagining yourself as a character in whatever genre you’re involved in, whether it’s a fantasy game, the Wild West, secret agents or whatever else. You get to sort of vicariously experience those things." - Gary Gygax The growing number of fans has exploded recently, with an increase in availability of online tools and the connectivity of the internet. Allowing me to continue to offer these games. I have a Legendary Bundle from DNDbeyond.com as well as physical copies of the books.

Safety

How Derek creates a safe table

Gameplay, Roll20 is used for maps and chat, D&D beyond is used to create and manage characters. Discord is used for voice chat and text between sessions. I like to use voices and role play as much as I use tactical combat. I attempt to weave each character backstories into the larger adventure to make every twist and turn more personal. Content Warning Campaign is Rated for Adult themes, adult language, intense or persistent violence and gore, partial/nudity, suggestive themes. Safety Tools A general meeting as well as Session Zero, to discuss any off limit topics or ideas to exclude from our gameplay. We will also be using the roll20 safety macro for play, pause and stop, during gameplay to maintain a positive atmosphere.
