Just finished my first ever campaign with MM, and I could not recommend him enough! As a first time player, I was nervous to make the jump from watching d&d to playing d&d. MM made sure that I was as comfortable as possible, making that transition very easy. Between the thematic background music, interesting maps, incredible story telling, and entertaining characters/voices, it was never difficult to become immersed in his world. He put in extra effort to seamlessly incorporate everyone’s backstory into the campaign in many different ways, which was genuinely impressive. If you are looking for a GM that will put in the time to ensure you and your party members have an awesome time playing d&d, new and experienced players alike, MM is your guy!
Played Wild Beyond the Witchlight with MM with a mix of new and experienced players of diverse personalities and interests. It was a totally fun campaign experience, set in a surprising, fairytale setting that he did a good job conveying the wonder & weirdness of. MM is a great all-around GM, balancing a good amount of both humor and stakes to keep it fun but also "real." I think MM does a great job making sure each player gets what they want from the game, i.e. mixing combat (and loot - so much loot), roleplay, & exploration/puzzles. I appreciate that MM incorporated our backstories and character goals. I'm not sure if he came up with these encounters, or if they were part of the module and just happened to dovetail into our character's themes, but there were a couple scenarios that really let our characters explore their backstory and motivations in ways that felt organic. Would definitely join in another campaign with MM in the future!
William does a great job of setting the mood in the game and embracing players creativity. He is flexible with incorporating changes based on player's flavor. He also does good at making sure everyone at the table is comfortable with how the game is being played. He is a great DM and I'd play at his table anytime.
William is a fantastic GM! I love playing D&D, but I'm very introverted and was nervous about playing with people I didn't know online. However, William is so considerate, fun, and easy to talk to, that I felt comfortable right away. He's a great storyteller and adds unique atmospheric touches through music and creative uses of other software that keeps every moment engaging. The pacing of his games feels well-managed, even during large battles, and the sessions just fly by. William goes the distance with lively character voices, is always ready with quick-witted responses, and is clearly well-versed in the source materials. Most importantly, at least to me, is that he really tries to make sure each player feels heard and is having a good time. I’m having so much fun playing in a campaign he’s running, and I can’t recommend him enough to other players!
William is great as a DM. He makes the fights hard, but doesn't totally root for PC's to die, which is just about the balance between those tensions. If it is too easy, it's boring because there are no stakes. He also has a sense of humor about the way dice rolls go both for and against us and the monsters, which makes it easier to stay light-hearted and fun about these things during the game.

How to prepare
We will be using discord for chat and planning. For maps/combat we will use Astral Tabletop, so you'll need to create a free account. Headphones/headsets recommended. You can use physical or digital dice, I don't need to see your rolls.
What I provide
I will provide all the online rule books we'll need, maps for combat, digital tokens, and an attempt at various character voices to fill the world.
Gameplay details
I have placed this games age range at 18+. I will describe violence and I will use adult language if it makes sense for the character. This adventure will be shift its themes at times from the dark and eerie, and the bizarre and even whimsical. If there are things you would want me to avoid I am very open to discussing them. If schedules allow I will plan a short and free session zero before the campaign begins. There we can discuss as a group or in private discord channels anything you would like about the campaign and set expectations early on. After sessions I will be in the discord for a little bit if you'd like to debrief about anything that happened during the session.

How will character creation work
For character creation, I have all official content on D&D Beyond that will be shared with you, you'll just have to create a free account. I'm very willing to help new players learn the ropes. This adventure is a very good way to learn dnd while simultaneously offering new ways for veterans to enjoy the game. Once players are confirmed I'll send out a campaign link for dnd beyond and a discord link, and from there I'm available to discuss character creation questions or general game questions.
