    About the adventure

Welcome to the quiet and proud town of Ash Port, Michigan. You play a high school student attending Harborview High. Not everything is as simple as it seems here, and more than one person, including you, has a dark secret. Not all monsters are easy to see, but if you manage to keep your head, you might just survive the semester. Monsterhearts 2 will feature awkward and sometimes messy teenage drama, with a dash of the paranormal. This game is role play heavy and light on combat.

    Additional Details

    How to prepare

The Discord app and an account with them is required (tablet, phone, or computer) as is a microphone. Player will use the dice rolling app/bot on Discord for skill checks. Taking notes is highly suggested. Character classes (called "Skins") will be provided by the GM and players are encouraged to know them. The GM will also provide background information about the setting during character creation and in the beginning of the game session.

    What I provide

The GM will have some maps and artwork to help players envision the game world. Player art is strongly encouraged.

    Gameplay details

This game will involve the often intense, conflicting, and confusing emotions, as well as the existential questions that come with growing up; with an added supernatural element. Some game mechanics are designed to allow players to effect how other characters (including player characters) will act or react based on skill checks. There is also an element of crime and corruption in this game (drug use, violence, corrupt authority figures), and the game is designed with romance and sexuality options and mechanics, including options and mechanics for A-Sexual players. That being said I will not have sexually explicit content in the game; any scenes headed that direction will fade to black or be interrupted with a convenient narrative moment. In running this game in the past, issues of murder, suicide, drunk driving, domestic violence, emotional/psychological manipulation, and stalking have come up and were dealt with in the context of the game without issue. However, it is my function as a GM to provide a safe and fun experience; and while topics like these can be "appropriate" in the context of the narrative I encourage players to discuss which topics the are an are not comfortable with and I will adjust as needed. If a topic comes up and is a triggering experience please use the "Red" "Yellow" and "Green" light system for adjusting the flow the narrative. Saying "Red (light)" or typing it in chat with all capital letters means that the current scene must stop and be significantly altered; two or more Red lights in a scene will stop play and a break will occur to process how and if the game will continue. "Yellow" will prompt the GM and players to avoid, fade to black, or alter the narrative in the moment without an abrupt stop; indicating that the player who used Yellow would like to avoid what they believe is about to be a triggering or very uncomfortable scene. "Green" (some times asked as a question), indicates that a player is comfortable with the scene. A player about to make an action they believe may make other players (including the GM) uncomfortable may ask "Green light?" if no one has said "Red" or "Yellow" as they prepare. Once asked the other players can respond as the need to (with Red, Yellow, or Green. I strive to GM a game that challenges and entertains players with only "Green" lights. Please connect with me for more information.

    How will character creation work

Players are encouraged to schedule time with the GM to work on character creation. Typically less than one hour is needed. Players are also encouraged to spend the first part of the game determining how and if their characters know each other. With Monsterhearts 2 there is a mechanic that uses "Strings" which players can "pull" to affect others, some of these strings will be determined before play begins.

    Players can expect

    • Combat/Tactics: Low
    • Roleplay: High
    • Puzzles: Medium
    • Experience Level: Beginner
