About me
New to Dungeons and Dragons? Grizzled veteran of a hundred campaigns? Never even created a character before? Look no further, future adventurer, Harbinger is here. A Harbinger is a messenger and my job is to bring the following message to you - you can have a great time with Dungeons and Dragons! Let my 40 years of playing and DMing this amazing and creative game work for you. Having started with Dungeons and Dragons, before there even was an Advanced version, and well before there was a thought of a 2nd edition. What is Dungeons and Dragons? 1) An opportunity to be your best... or worst. 2) A way to meet and socialize with people with similar interests. 3) A chance to exercise you imagination in ways you haven't even thought of yet. 4) A world where you choose your style, method, abilities and spells, and deal with the consequences of your decisions. 5) A great, safe way to spend a few hours a week, I believe that your character history begins as soon as you start thinking about what you want to be..
GM style
I choose to be very flexible of what characters choose to do and then allow them to deal with LOGICAL results of those actions. Keeping this in mind, I also believe that acting without available info is a bad thing. Think about John Wick. To the son of the Russian Mobster, he was some shmoe at a gas station with a dog. As soon as his father heard what happened, he all but kissed his son as if he was doomed. This is meant to be fun and it is my job to create a space and activity where players can have fun while knowing that their character might die on the whim of the dice. I don't create "no-win" scenarios. I encourage players to remember - retreat is always an option. If attack looks hopeless, it might be! There is no shame in saying - "Yeah... Let's come back to this..." I respect all players and will remove anyone who violates what I consider to be the first rule of D&D - "Don't be a d-ck,"
