About the adventure

Waterdeep, a marvelous city filled with culture, excitement, and secrets like nowhere else. A person could spend their whole life in the City of Splendors and barely scratch the surface of what it holds. An adventurer could spend their entire career within the Crown of the North and never want for danger or challenges. As a new group of adventurers begin to come together, they have only faint rumors that pull them in different directions. Rival gangs and their violence have begun to spill out into the streets, people are going missing, and some whispers even talk about a new discovery within the city that could change the lives of whoever gets to it first. Welcome to Dragon Heist! My name is Chris. I’m 33 years old, and I’ve been DMing since grade school with 3rd edition and worked my way through each version of dnd along with many more systems over the last twenty plus years. I’ve found myself in the DM seat for the most part, and it’s a spot where I’m most comfortable and excited to be. As for my style, I love taking prewritten modules and molding them into a story that really feels unique to each player and character. I utilize resources and ideas from reddit, the DMsguild, and my own homebrew in order to help the characters to feel like a part of the world. My goal in each campaign and each session is to watch the player develop their characters’ stories between each other and the world at large. I plan to make plenty of changes to the game, but the biggest will likely be to increase the level range significantly. By utilizing more resources and reworking some of the content, characters will be able to progress much further than the original 1-5. My goal in doing this would be to move the group up to levels more common in the other published modules. Waterdeep has too much to offer for a visit so short. That said, expect plenty of opportunities for RP, political dealings, interactions with different groups and factions, and spending in game months or possibly years making yourself part of the city. If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to send me a message and let me know what questions that you have. We can talk a bit more about your questions and about what you’re looking for in a game. My goal is to create a group that gets along well rather than just put the first six people to contact me into a group. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Additional Details

How to prepare

I use voice in my games so a decent microphone and good internet connection will be necessary. I use some animated maps in foundry, but I do what I can to keep maps small enough to run on most computers without issue. For my players, I expect them to know how their characters work and the basic system. I am more than willing to help teach these and can spend some time making sure a new player understands the core features of their class. Characters can be made in foundry, or I can import a character from Dndbeyond into the game easily as well.

What I provide

In each session, I will be prepared and excited to get started. I will do my best to ensure that all of my players are given chances at the spotlight and are encouraged to work together as a team. I will always be willing to listen as problems arise, and I am happy to problem solve issues if they occur.

Gameplay details

Once we have a party gathered, we will hold a session 0 in order to discuss the campaign, character ideas, as well as any trigger warnings for topics that would be considered out of bounds for the group. I am understanding that different things will affect people in different ways and am more than willing to make sure everyone at my table is comfortable.
