The House of Lament - Ravenloft Precursor

About the adventure

The House of Lament is an D&D 5e adventure from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. The players will make their way through a haunted castle as they help investigators look for the source of the ghosts. This is a good game to hop in on since it starts at 1st level, and introduces a new world to the players. If all goes well, this could turn into a longer campaign, or at least a couple more games set in this adventure. Even though this adventure is horror-based, you can rest assured that I will do my best to keep the players safe (if not their characters.)

How to prepare

A webcam and decent mic would be preferred, as well as headphones since Zoom will duck your audio if someone else is talking. We'll use Roll20 for battle maps. You don't need to use D&D Beyond but there will be a campaign invite provided (which comes with all sourcebooks unlocked). You can use physical or digital dice, I trust people not to lie, or else what's the point?

What I provide

Roll20 will have tokens for each of your characters, as well as enemies during combat. The D&D Beyond campaign invite will come with all sourcebooks.

Gameplay details

This game will contains elements of horror, gore, and other unsettling themes. We'll be using anonymous Lines and Veils which means I'll compile a list of hard/soft No's without anyone feeling the need to divulge their personal triggers. During the game we'll use X cards in a digital format which means that at any point a player can call an X, message the group, or me privately, and we'll stop the scene to check-in.

How will character creation work

Creation before the game. I'll also provide several pre-gen options with provided backstories if someone just wants to hop in.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
