Stars Without Number Character Creation and One Shot

About the adventure

In the far of sector of space known as Zeta Icarus, humanity in all its forms and alien species vie for technological supremacy in the wake of humanities golden age. Centuries have passed since the height of human civilization and what remains is picked through by the spacefaring survivors and much smaller polities within the sectors. Come now adventurers, search alien and human ruins for technological marvels, compete with opposing factions and agencies for your survival and unravel the mysteries of the Icarus Nebula. No that I'm done waxing poetic, I invite you into a setting inspired by stories like the Expanse, Alien, Flash Gordon and To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. That is to say, hard science/technology with things out of the ordinary throwing wrenches into the works. It is not a place where heroes are common but instead a place where those who do heroic things are exceptional and highly sought after for dangerous missions. There is no expectation for your characters to be heroes but instead many opportunities along the way for them to chose to be heroes and reap the rewards and consequences thereof. This Session will be an opportunity for me to get a fanbase for the Stars without Number System going and hopefully find some dedicated players who would be interested in a longform campaign. Until then, this will be a series of unconnected one shots simple so people can get a feel for the system. This first One Shot will be set in the Icy Wilderness of the Boreas Koru System, helping a local Koru Clan remove an intrusive and unwelcome scientific team from occupying their land, necessary for their survival in the nearing winter months.

How to prepare

Players should have a webcam and Mic they can rely on. Once you contact me with interest I will add you to a Discord with the resources necessary and a small amount of required reading.

Gameplay details

This One Shot will entail Stealth, Wilderness Survival, Combat, Negotiation and Explosions. The Stars without Number System allows for players to take on a multitude of classes and infinite playstyles within those classes. Mostly a d20 based system, the game recommends conflict resolution using skills rather than combat, some classes not coded towards combat at all allowing for a less one-lane approach to the game than more combat focused systems. Plenty of opportunity to blast enemies though, guaranteed.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen in the first hour of the session, its a very easy process and I have done it myself and helped people through it many times.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
