About the adventure

Welcome to Thule, a realm of medieval fantasy seeped in darkness, where survival is an endless struggle and sanity, a fleeting mirage. Thrust into this brutal reality, you take on the role of Jack Willowbright, a man marked by an obsession that transcended life itself. In "Shadows of the Obsidian", face trials that challenge your morality, confront monstrous adversaries that question your combat skills, and experience psychological torments that keep your sanity on edge. Navigate through decrepit towns, haunted forests, and confront the echoes of your past as you seek a mystical artifact rumored to possess the power to take you home. Encounter characters ranging from terrified survivors to ruthless warlords, each carrying their own secrets and agendas. Forge alliances born of desperation, or walk the path of treachery in your quest for freedom. Each choice you make molds your journey in Thule, leading to multiple plot lines and outcomes. This is a world where alliances are ephemeral, and the line between friend and foe is blurred by the shadows of survival. Crafted to be an experience that questions your combat prowess and moral choices, "Shadows of the Obsidian" is an immersive one-on-one play-by-post campaign that will keep you on the edge from start to finish. In Thule, remember - sanity is a luxury, and morality, an unsettling question. Join us in this epic odyssey, and let's see if you can survive the Shadows of the Obsidian.

How to prepare

You will need access to a computer capable of handling Discord. If needed, a briefing document with basic "world information" will be sent out, but you won't be asked to read much.

What I provide

My Discord server has a dedicated group of players and mods ready to help. I have all content on D&D Beyond for players to use at any time.

Please note that the presence of a Content Warning Tag is not a guarantee that it appears in games. I choose to err on the side of caution and warn of possible content - this is NOT a license to do it, and this list can be modified. In Session 0 we will discuss safety tools, and you will be able to express publicly or privately anything you wish to avoid in-game. How will character creation work

More details will be posted in the Discord server, but here are the basics. For this game your character will have no knowledge of the Spelljammer universe. 1. Choose a species for your character, such as human, elf, dwarf, halfling, or tiefling, but all species are allowed. 2. Determine your character's ability scores by rolling, point buy, or standard array. 3. Choose a class for your character, such as fighter, wizard, rogue, cleric, or bard. Blood Hunter must be approved. 4. Choose a background for your character, such as criminal, noble, or sage. 5. Choose your starting equipment based on your character's species, class, and background. You may also purchase additional equipment using the starting gold provided if applicable. 6. If your character can cast spells, choose your spells from the available options, but be aware of any banned spells. 7. Choose any feats your character may have access to, but be aware of any banned feats. 8. Finalize your character by recording your chosen options and consulting with Moses#6623 to ensure your character follows any additional rules or guidelines specific to their game.
