About the adventure

You’ve played 5e. Are you ready to play Advanced Dungeons & Dragons? Advanced Dungeons & Dragons is a more challenging version of the 5e you have learned to love. If 5e is not challenging enough then Advanced Dungeons & Dragons may be for you! Advanced Dungeons & Dragons features: • Deadlier combat (if you are not careful) • Progression up to Level 40 • Experience Points for finding loot • Build strongholds, taverns, temples, and wizard towers • Attract followers, tame the frontier, or walk the halls of power Plot Synopsis: The Thayan Guild of Foreign Trade is dealing with fallout from the Cult of the Dragon robbing and pillaging the Sword Coast. Customers without money are not good customers at all. To make matters worse a chaotic group of adventurers are stealing dragon eggs, turning them into omelets, and feeding them to captured members of the Cult of the Dragon, then releasing them. Why? For the laughs of course! The cult members along with the dragons whose young are now served alongside potatoes scattered, smothered, and covered at Ye Olde House of Waffle have begun a scorched earth campaign adding to your bosses’ woes. Dead customers are not good customers at all. Your mission is to undermine the cult’s activities by turning their allies against them from the shadows, leading other adventurers to them to do your dirty work for you, and inciting strife among the cult members so that they may become double agents for your guild.

Gameplay details

We are journeying through all the official D&D hardcover books, Adventurers League, and selected side quests from DMs Guild in chronological order with an overarching meta plot converted from 5e to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. We are starting in the year 1486, approximately 1 year before Horde of the Dragon Queen and Tyranny in Phlan. Then we will complete Rise of Tiamat. After finishing Rise of Tiamat we will keep the same characters and continue with the following adventures in world chronological order: Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, AL DDAL 10 Series (1489) Storm King’s Thunder, AL DDAL 5 Series (1490) Princes of the Apocalypse, AL DDEX 2 Series (1491) Tomb of Annihilation, AL DDAL 7 Series (1490 or 1491) Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, AL DDAL08 Series (1492) Candlekeep Mysteries (1492) Descent Into Avernus, AL DDAL 09 Series (1494) This campaign is inspired by detective dramas such as The X-Files, Scooby Doo, Law & Order, and the vampire owned detective agency Angel Investigations from the Buffy The Vampire Slayer franchise. It is also inspired by business ownership and navigating the royal court from novels such as Banished from the Heroes Party and How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. With this campaign you get: • DM with over 37 years playing and 36 years refereeing games starting with the B/X set up to 5th Edition. • 36 years of experience with the FORGOTTEN REALMS® setting including novels, video games, and comics. • A canon historical experience in Faerûn based on classic publications. • A modern experience in Faerûn updated from Ed Greenwood’s blog and Twitter posts as he continues to develop the lore of the realms. • Adventure and Intrigue set in the land created by Ed Greenwood and R.A. Salvatore. • Your choice of theater of the mind or Fantasy Grounds Virtual Table Top. • All adventures include a Pacifist Path where objectives can be met through trickery, quick thinking, or a silver tongue.
