About the adventure

Ghouls have been faithful servants to the Kindred since the First City, though their Kindred masters have seldom returned their ardor. Instead, ghouls have been the victim of countless abuses. The Kindred have never feared the consequences of this cruelty; the power of the Blood Bond guarantees loyalty, even in the face of immortal viciousness. But now a band of ghouls has found a mysterious means of slipping the leash and they seem intent on liberating their peers. What will become of the Kindred when their once-loyal retainers are free and looking for payback? In this game, player characters attempt to discover how the ghouls are breaking their Blood Bonds and confront the moral quandary of whether they should help the ghouls escape their cruel domitors, risking censure from their fellow Kindred, or whether they should attempt to thwart the nascent movement. The game is set in and around LA. Though this is a self-contained 6-session campaign, Ghoul Revolt player characters can be imported into LA by Night, Chicago by Night, or Detroit by Night, with ST approval.

How to prepare

This game uses Discord, so players will need either a webcam and a mic (standard laptop variety is fine) or their phone and a Discord account. The Storyteller will discuss basic mechanics of the game and answer any questions prior to play. Players should have either a pdf or a printout of their character sheet available during play, so that blood, willpower, and XP expenditures can be tracked. Players are encouraged but not required to supply a visual reference of their character for the group and to speak in the voice/accent of their character. Extra XP will be given for those performances. The exception, of course, is performances that mock or disparage the group to which the character belongs.

What I provide

The core book, pdf character sheets, visual references for the NPCs, maps (when necessary), visual references for locations, character voices, and dice.

Gameplay details

VtM uses a D10 system. Typically, dice pools are either the character's attribute + ability, willpower, or a virtue and are rolled against a variable difficulty decided by the ST. In this game, rolls will only be called for physical feats, investigation, discipline use (translation: using the vampire's special powers), frenzy, or virtue checks. Other intellectual or social feats are usually resolved through roleplaying. This game employs Session 0, lines and veils, and X-N-O card. Current Lines: Sexual assault; racial slurs; homophobic slurs; anti-Semitic slurs, misogynistic slurs Current Veils: Torture of any kind, violence against children CONTENT WARNING: Emphasizing the plight of the ghouls involves implied violence and torture. There will be no direct descriptions of this in the game, but it will be implied. Additionally, themes of mental illness and trauma appear throughout.

How will character creation work

Players will be creating "neonates," which are vampires that have recently been embraced. Character creation will take place before the game with the assistance of the Storyteller. Clan choice is restricted to Brujah, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere, and Ventrue.
