    About the adventure

Welcome to the Menagerie Coast of Exandria. Prepare for your own Critical Role adventure, using the setting of Wildemount for Dungeons and Dragons 5e. The campaign begins with the heroes as hired muscle for a timber guild in the city of Tussoa. Little do they know they are about to be whisked into a world of adventure. This is a monthly campaign for 4-6 Level One adventurers to be played over a period of 6-10 months. You don't have to commit to all the games. If you want to experience the bulk of the story, this is a game for you. The campaign will explore themes including rising from humble beginnings and the corruption of power. I like to play in a pulp style, where every wild idea has a chance to succeed. Because this is a Critical Role game, I would like to encourage active roleplaying between the PCs to create rich emotional stories.

    How to prepare

Everyone needs to have headphones and a microphone. Going without causes feedback. Feedback causes troubleshooting. Troubleshooting takes away from fun playing. "If you use roll20 to import your D&D Beyond character, or create the character using the roll20 templates, you can roll dice virtually. I'm old fashioned and love my actual dice and will be using them. If you don't use virtual dice, then you'll need to bring a set of D&D dice. Webcams are encouraged but not necessary. It help with roleplaying when you can see everyone's expressions, but you may not want to be broadcasting yourself eating snacks. That's fine. Again, using roll20 to control your character (including D&D Beyond) is encouraged and will be available. If you want to just have a printout of your character sheet and physical dice, that is fine also. I do ask everyone to draw or find a picture that best represents your character so I can use it as your character avatar and token during game play.

    What I provide

I will provide a set of required D&D books, the stories, maps and music for the background. Players will be responsible for putting together their first level character and providing me with an avatar/token of the character. Also, have a roll20 and discord subscription (they're free!) so you can participate in the game... and we can avoid game time-stealing troubleshooting.

    Gameplay details

The typical session will be pulp gritty fantasy, in the style of Critical Role. There will be exploring, combat and lots of roleplaying. Characters will experience fairy tale violence. I prefer to use an online modification of the x-card, where players say, "Pause the game," when things become uncomfortable. I adjust. We continue the game.

    How will character creation work

Character creation will happen before the session. Players should bring a 1st level character to the table made using the suggestions in the Explorers Guide to Wildemount. Variations from Tasha's and the other Wizards books, plus the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting can all be used.

    Players can expect

    • Combat/Tactics: Medium
    • Roleplay: High
    • Puzzles: Low
    • Experience Level: Open to all
