About the adventure

Hello and welcome to The Descent. The Descent will feature a darker story told of a city's fall and a group of unknowns making a name for themselves in a world full of hero's. Even the most hardened adventurers watch their steps in Baldur’s Gate, where lives hold prices in copper and greed proves deadlier than dragon fire. Baldur’s Gate has a reputation for being a rough place, where crime and opportunity walk hand in hand, and where anything can be bought, sold, or seized at swordpoint. If something can be given a price, it’s for sale somewhere in Baldur’s Gate. Drugs and poisons sit on shelves alongside tinctures and remedies. Trade goods from Chult, mechanical wonders from Neverwinter, tomes of magic from Calimshan, and the most believable counterfeits of each can all be found in the city’s stalls. The Flaming Fist, a mercenary company paid for by the city, protects residents without the barest hint of civil delicacy. The Watch, the guardian force of the wealthy Upper City, exists only to serve the patriars—the city’s detached upper class. Meanwhile, crime flourishes under the control of the Guild, which oversees almost every organized criminal act, from dockside gambling rings to blackmail at patriar garden parties. Either under the Guild’s auspices or in defiance of them, those who cut purses or throats make a decent living in the city, their talents traded as briskly—and often just as openly—as those of any other professional. For all its shadows and dark dealings, Baldur’s Gate is not without its lights. Some residents earnestly seek to make the city a safer place by banding together to make their own sort of imperfect but effective justice.

Additional Details

How to prepare

Discord is mandatory for voice chat. Roll20 is our Virtual Table Top. I am here to help new players, rules can be discussed before hand (session Zero or in Discord) and i have shared my compendium with my players. You may search or look into rules during the game but let's try not to slow the game down. The rules are only meant to be a guideline after all.

What I provide

I will do my best to come prepared for each and every game. I will try to provide you with a positive experience that you will enjoy each session. Some sessions may get dark but i hope that it makes it more interesting. I do like giving out the odd extra magic item here and there!

Gameplay details

Short descriptions of settings and information. I do not like a long description of a person, place or thing. We will be playing Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition with some homebrew rules thrown in for flavour. All rules can be discussed and voted on as a group during session zero. I will not try to dictate how the story goes but sometimes i may have to step in to direct it a certain way. But if you describe how or what your character does and it goes with the rules in a way but it is super awesome, i will definitely allow it.

How will character creation work

Characters start at level 1 with a standard ability score that i have. Once players are accepted, i will invite them to the game. First sign in to game opens new character for player. There we will use the charactermancer to create a PC. There will be no Monster Races used in our games. Certain races can be allowed as long as it is a published wizards race. I expect everyone usually has a character made up when they find a game. I can help or guide players in how or what to make. I am here to help.
