About the adventure

Lovebirds old and new, arch-nerds and geek-adjacents, lend me your ears! Looking for a date night activity full of wonder, excitement, and just a little hint of basic math? Check out DNDnD! At their most basic, these sessions are one-shot adventures designed for two players looking to have some fun, kick some monster butt, and connect over something that isn't a streaming service or a mid-tier restaurant dinner. Over the course of an evening, you and your partner will take an active part in a mini-quest, getting a hands-on role in a story for the cost of a movie ticket! Every session will be tailored to the party's experience level and story interests for maximum fun. Seasoned tabletop veterans? Heck yeah! Drop right in and hit the ground running at whatever character tier suits your fancy. New to tabletops? No sweat! We can schedule a quick session zero to talk character ideas. Or I've got pre-made starter characters ready to go, so you can sit down, start rolling and learn the game as we go! Somewhere in the middle? Mixed experience levels? Your S/O has finally agreed to play the clicky clacky math rock game with you? All are welcome. Double dates, relationships with more than two partners, early sparks of connection or decades-long partnerships all welcome. I'm just a guy trying to roll some dice and give people a nice night to remember.

How to prepare

Tech: Have at least one web connected device with a microphone and camera available, with Zoom installed. If you are playing from different locations, have one device per person. Laptop or desktop works far better for our purposes than a smartphone or tablet. Dice: If you have a set or two of standard TTRPG polyhedral dice (d4-d20), you're ready to roll. If you do not, finding a virtual dice roller is advised. I highly recommend the smartphone app DiceEx, which will allow you to plug in values as you go. Character Details: If you're creating your own character, a DnD beyond character sheet works great. If you're using one of the pre-made archetypes, I will send you a pdf to print out for you to print out and keep track. Please have a piece of art ready to go for making a character token in my virtual table top. Google Images is a great resource for this.

What I provide

All virtual at present, but I will provide zoom details, rules reference material, digital maps, and music (if feasible).

Gameplay details

A standard session will be a goofy romp, set in a traditional western fantasy world with, aimed at completing a tight three act story within the course of one session. Alternatives on tone, setting and length available by request. A pre-session boundaries checklist will be sent ahead of the session.

How will character creation work

Players have three options for character creation: 1.) Create a character on their own, using the 4d6 drop lowest methodology. Recommended for experienced players only. 2.) Schedule a session zero with me to collaboratively walk through the process of creating a character. Approx 1 hr-1.5 hrs. Recommended for players with a basic knowledge of the game or DnD newbies with some experience in system-based character customization (video games are a great reference point). 3.) Pilot one of twelve ready-to-use archetypical DnD characters (human fighter, half-orc barbarian, tiefling warlock, etc.). Recommended for newbies who just want to hit the ground running.

Players can expect

  • Combat/Tactics: Medium
  • Roleplay: Medium
  • Puzzles: Low
  • Experience Level: None
