About me

Hello there! My name is Zach and I'm a professionally trained actor in Los Angeles who performs regularly in the area. I also work in Educational Theatre, performing for and working with students around various mental health topics. That said, I love playing D&D with people from all backgrounds and all experience levels, having run many games for people who have never even heard of table top role playing. So if you're totally new to this and overwhelmed (like we all were when we started), have no fear! I love sharing this game with people, and can have you rolling like a pro in no time! My biggest goal as a DM is to make sure everyone at the table is having fun and feeling safe. While adventuring has its fair share of dangers, sitting at my table doesn't. For custom bookings, events, and young audiences, visit my website: www.gameswithzach.com So let's hang out and tell a story together! Meet you at the tavern!

GM Style

I like to get straight to the fun as quickly as possible. Sometimes this means fudging the rules a bit to make the mechanics of the game work for us rather than the other way around. I like to give players opportunities for their 'hero moment' - a moment where they and their characters get to do something awesome

I've played in several sessions with Zach, and I always have a blast. Zach is a skilled DM/GM as well as a wonderful actor and improviser, and he always makes sure the group has a great time. He's great at incorporating everything each player is looking for in a game, and he is a fantastic storyteller. I highly recommend him for any and all games!

A friendly and welcoming GM, Zach incorporates player ideas into his worldbuilding and storytelling and creates a space where players are eager to share their ideas. The idea of level 0 peasant campaign may not sound exciting, but Zach's vivid descriptions and roleplaying brought the world to life and made even small things feel big.

I recently played in a short mystery campaign DMed by Zack, and I had an absolute blast! Zach is an all around nice guy, a great DM and a natural storyteller with a flair for setting a scene. I think one of the hallmarks of an excellent DM is when I, the player, genuinely have no idea what content was prepared versus what content is improvised on the spot, and Zach is so quick on his feet that he accomplishes that with ease. He's also great at meeting players where they are and playing to their interests in the kind of way that made me more excited to play DND than ever. The time I spent at his virtual table was such a good balance of fun, intrigue and drama. I definitely hope I get to join in another one of his campaigns in the future!

I've had the privilege of being GMed by Zach in person, as well as being in one of his games on StartPlaying! He's a terrific storyteller, making everything easy to visualize and easy to follow. He's also skilled at giving players confidence, especially for people like me who are still dipping their toes into more roleplay-focused campaigns, and the self-consciousness that comes with that. Just an all-around cool guy who I look forward to playing with again!

This was my first non-learning game and first experience with Monster of the Week. I loved every second! Zach’s cinematic descriptions and interesting NPCs really made the game come to life. It was so much fun and I can’t recommend him enough!

Zach was brilliant! I had never played the system before and he made it really easy and straightforward to get to grips with the mechanics, as well as making a really inclusive and thoughtful space to play in. I also thought he did an excellent job of shifting focus from player to player allowing the spotlight to shine on each person equally!
