About me

Hey, I'm Val. This all started with a passion for language - both the written word and performance arts. I've been enjoying making up fantasy worlds and playing out combat and drama with friends since I was seven and had no idea what D&D even was. Through the years, I have been part of a Shakespearean troupe, written poetry, trained with a vocal coach, and become a pronunciation tutor. I've had the pleasure of playing and GMing a wide variety of games and genres. Right now, my attention is turned toward writing my own extended campaign and introducing players to more unusual games. I live in the Emerald City with my roommate and two exceptionally silly and affectionate cats named after periodic elements. I teach English as a Second Language and am very lucky to work from home and make my own hours. Outside of roleplay, I enjoy video games, cooking, yoga, reading books made from dead trees, and rain.

GM style

Expect an open non-linear world that is responsive to your choices and actions. I strive to give players as much autonomy as possible. My adventures are often woven from bits of modules, links to character drives, my own inspirations, and the ripples of your past decisions. I craft a living world and let you decide how you want to engage with it. My favorite moments as a GM are when a creative solution causes the story to spin off in a direction I didn't anticipate. I'm known for my nimble improvisation in response to the machinations of my players. Roleplay takes center stage. My games are ideal for players who are creative and collaborative. I encourage you to allow your character to have flaws and depth, moments of growth, and complex relationships. I am passionate, knowledgeable, and flexible. Expect fair and efficient adjudication - that's always a GM's primary responsibility. I make sure our roleplaying starts right on time and stays on track. My games are always a safe space for everyone.
