About me
Hi there! My name is Mike, and I've been immersed in the world of Dungeons & Dragons since the 1st Edition back in the 80s. With a background in multimedia design, I bring a wealth of diverse skills to the table. As a professional DM on Roll20 for the past five years, I'm dedicated to providing players with an exceptional and immersive experience. Every game session has high-quality maps, vivid descriptions, captivating sounds, and boundless creativity to ensure every adventure is unforgettable. One of my proudest achievements is "The Heart of Darkness," an original three-part series designed to guide players from levels 1-20. This meticulously crafted campaign seamlessly weaves together my own creative content with inspiration drawn from decades of rich D&D lore. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or new to the realms, this campaign serves as a gateway to the captivating tapestry of the D&D multiverse. http://shadowrealmadventures.com/
GM Style
As a professional Dungeon Master, I have been dedicated to providing players with a high-quality and immersive experience on Roll20 for the past three years. My adventure campaigns are not mere series of quests; they are intricate, unfolding narratives uniquely tailored to your characters. Rooted in their motivations and backgrounds, the story dynamically evolves, incorporating player-generated content into the very fabric of the tale. The focus of my DM style is on the player's creativity, and deeply story-based. I offer opportunities for both role-playing and battle strategy in equal measure. Players' interactions with monsters, villains, and NPCs generate realistic reactions and outcomes based on their actions. Every decision made by the players impacts how the setting and the story unfolds, as there is no pre-determined outcome. Moral and ethical dilemmas will challenge players, and their choices will impact everything in the game. The adventures I create carry risk, and players need to be prepared for undesirable outcomes, including the death of their beloved character should poor decisions or unlucky dice rolls not go their way. I prioritize player agency, ensuring that every action has a natural consequence or reward. If you seek an immersive and challenging experience where your decisions truly matter, join me in "The Heart of Darkness," a three-part series that will take you from levels 1-20 and introduce you to a unique world in Dungeons & Dragons. http://shadowrealmadventures.com/

Storytelling
Mike is a great DM and artistic story-teller. He listens to his players and greatly encourages creativity among his gaming groups, which in turn allows for growth and camaraderie in his sessions. Mike's expert knowledge in D&D is on point, and his desire to promote cleverness and resourcefulness during game play allows for witty conversation and great entertainment among the group players.
Mike is very creative. The campaign I am in right now has many different options depending on what choices we make. It is clear he has put a great deal of thought and time into creating his material. The situations we find ourselves in are novel and inventive. We think we have it figured out and there is a new twist. Mike gets right into the game, he acts out the parts with different voices. His descriptions are colourful and easy to imagine. The graphics in Roll20 are top end, from the maps to the fireballs. I have found Mike to have infinite patience. I was new to Roll20 and Mike had to walk everyone through the basics; casting a spell, rolling a dice to making a saving throw. Never has he shown any sign of frustration. As a DM Mike allows players to be creative with their character giving the players a great deal of latitude in their histories and specialities. When it comes to making a ruling I believe Mike to be fair and reasonable. It does not feel like we are playing against him, but rather he is more an arbiter. I have been lucky as a D&D player to have had a lot of good DM’s and Mike is right there at the top.
Uniquely among the worlds I've played in, beyond its colourful, varied, and intricate social groupings and power brokers Mike has fashioned a setting that is morally rich and complicated, one that challenges players to truly consider their actions and alliances. There will be consequences. Meaningful ones. They affect your campaign's evolution on a level deeper than hack and slash. Though there's tons of that too. Mike's style is cinematically vivid, and gives the imaginative player meat to chew on and relish and play with. Creative opportunity awaits you. It's devilish, maybe even demonic. And I look forward to breaking though the fourth wall at end and slaying this beastly deity called Mike and finally to rest content back home, with family and friends, quaffing a few, cursing some, and raising a cup to that legendary foe. Alaric Droon, paladin of the Ancients
Shadow rolls with whatever we throw at him but still maintains the structure of the game. He’s created an intricate world with nuance that’s fun to explore. I’m on my second time through the same campaign and it’s a very different experience with a different character who has different priorities.
