About me
Hey there, I'm Robert, aka Shade Walker. A pleasure to meet you and thanks for taking the time to read my profile. Below are some questions and answers to better portray myself on this wonderful site. Hope to talk to you soon! šš”šØ šš«š š²šØš®?: A passionate roleplayer that loves to try new things, discover new lore and meet new people. šŗļø šš”šš šš±š©šš«š¢šš§šš ššØ š²šØš® š”ššÆš?: Tons, over 20 years of roleplaying as a player and over 15 years as a Game Master. ā šš”šš š šš¦š š¬š²š¬ššš¦š¬ šš«š š²šØš® ššš¦š¢š„š¢šš« š°š¢šš”?: My experience ranges from classic Dungeons and Dragons including 5th Edition, 4th and 3.5 to many World of Darkness series, both Old and New, Shadowrun, Dark Heresy, Savage Worlds, HERO and Pathfinder. š² šš”šš š¬š¤š¢š„š„š¬ ššØ š²šØš® šš«š¢š§š ššØ šš”š šššš„š?: Immersive roleplaying, creative in depth combat encounters, intriguing and beguiling puzzles, complex lore, NPCs that will come to life lifted right from the game, semi decent voice acting(at least I'd like to think so), a combination of improvisation and set story to allow for a fully customized story for everyone involved. The flexibility of always discussing anything home brew and trying to bring your ideas to life while incorporating them into the story. Most importantly a wonderful time for everyone involved. āØ ššØš° ššššš©šš¢š§š šš«š š²šØš®?: I believe that everyone should be whomever they were always meant to be. I'm very LGBTQ+ friendly and more importantly I respect everyone's identity and time. Regardless of your status I'll treat you with the same amount of respect that I'm treated with and that I'd give to anyone else. My ears are always open to listen and I'm always happy to learn. š³ļøāš šš”šš š¬šØš«š šØš š¬ššššš² ššØšØš„š¬ ššØ š²šØš® š®š¬š?: I would like to think that I am quite a safe and open Game Master. I have an Open Door policy, use and incorporate a X, N and O system, always talk through the Lines and Veils of a group before each session and try to give fair warnings ahead of time for what situations may come up. Whenever it feels like a break is needed I tend to take it for the group. And I always do a check in 15 minutes before and after a Session to see how everyone is doing and how I can improve upon their experiences. š”ļø šš”šš š¢š¬ š²šØš®š« ššš¢š§š š¬šš²š„š š„š¢š¤š?: I tend to do the majority of the roleplaying for a Session in the form of theater of the mind while incorporating pictures, maps and rolls where necessary to help better immerse my players in the environment and world. If I can I like to use music and I'm steadily learning new forms of audio manipulation to bring the scenes all the more to life. š ššØš° šš„šš±š¢šš„š š¢š¬ š²šØš®š« š¬šš”ššš®š„š šš§š š®š¬š šØš š”šØš¦ššš«šš°?: I'd like to think I am quite flexible both for what I accept into stories as far as homebrew is concerned and my time of availability to accommodate player timing. I do my best to answer questions as soon as I can, be available outside of session time to help players flesh out their characters and stories and also to adjust the timing of my games to better accommodate the players involved as needed. My Direct Messages are always open to anyone that has questions. ā šš”šš ššššš š©š„ššššØš«š¦š¬ ššØ š²šØš® š®š¬š?: I generally use Discord when it comes to running things, I find it to be easier to move things around and set up numerous channels there to organize my worlds. I also use Roll20 for a lot of my lore storage and map storage for those that need a visual representation. I tend to use Mythweavers as a place to make and store character sheets, but I'm familiar with D&D Beyond and other sheet storage platforms, so it is whatever my players are most comfortable with. Perhaps in the future I'll become more well versed with other platforms and add them to my options, but for now those are the primary two I use. š§āš» šš”šš ššØ š²šØš® šš±š©ššš šš«šØš¦ š²šØš®š« š©š„šš²šš«š¬?: Generally I'd like my players to be able to use a microphone during play, though I don't find it necessary. If you can keep up through typing while others talk that is your choice. I don't require webcams as I generally don't use one myself currently, though maybe I'll get one in the future, but never a requirement. More importantly I hope my players come to the game with an eagerness to play, an open mind to possibilities and the readiness to be immersed in a strange new world and situation. I hope to have numerous interesting adventures together, both the calm and the wild. š¤ šš§š² š„šš¬š šš”š¢š§š š¬ š²šØš® š°šš§š ššØ ššš„š„ š®š¬?: First of all, thank you for taking the time to read through my Profile. I'm sure it was a long one and I hope your time and effort was worth it. Please feel free to contact me with any of your questions and concerns, my messages are always open. I hope you have a wonderful day/night, whatever it may be for you. It would be wonderful if we have the chance to get to know one another better, play a session or two together and see how well we mesh. If we don't then I'll always wish you luck to finding someone that does give you what you seek. š
GM Style
I love creativity, bringing one's ideas to life. To me a game isn't all about the system, it is more about the story to be told between the characters, for the characters, about the world around them. How they change it to be their own, to add to or even subtract from it. As much as I enjoy combat I don't typically do straight forward fights. My enemies are smart and will use whatever advantages they have to win with dynamic and immersive maps. š¤ŗ I do enjoy some forms of darker themes, but all within the limits for what players are comfortable with. Limitations are always to be discussed beforehand and I believe that while the players should generally win in the end, I don't think they should just be handed it, but rather have to earn it through hard work and struggle. I'm not one to pull punches, but I'm also flexible and willing to rule of cool a lot of things if I think it fits the situation at hand. šŖ I try to make every NPC important, giving them details that matter and if you should like them I try to make them likeable. If you should need to hate them, well I try to make you really hate them. While I do like to do homebrew, my goal is to give everyone a chance to shine and feel in center stage. I'm also always open to hear feedback and criticism from my players because I want us all to enjoy the experience of writing out a story together. šš Thank you for taking the time and effort to read through my monologue and have a wonderful day/night.
