About Sergey Sakharov
Greetings from Central Asia! English isn't my first language - but I have over a decade of experience as an interpreter and a tour guide both in English and in German. You (probably) won't have to worry about not being able to understand me on voice chats! :D At present, I run a successful Discord server with multiple tables (and awesome people there!), as well as a few games in-person in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

I got started GMing...
back in 2013-14 via text roleplaying in World of Warcraft! Ran a pretty successful guild from 2015 to 2020. Lost my job to Covid, as many others did, but managed to use my old passion for storytelling and running games to become a pro GM!
When I'm not running games I'm...
taking people around Kazakhstan on guided tours, working out and taking care of my three cats (and my wife too, sometimes).
How Sergey Sakharov runs games
I'm here to fill your characters' lives with adventure. Not that they'll have an easy time of it. I gravitate towards grittier, more down-to-earth games, where mundane motivations move people to great (and terrible) things. Knee-deep in dead monsters, up to their neck in trouble and with an array of bad and slightly less bad choices in front of them is where I believe the adventurers should mostly be. I prefer running my stories on a TV-show logic scale. Cliffhangers, betrayals, twists and suprises are the name of the game. Nothing like changing up a well-known module to turn it on its' head and giving everyone fun time! After all, you're the big damn heroes, and who else is there to save the day anyway?

I deal with rules issues by...
making a ruling on the spot and looking it up later.
My games focus on...
survival, social hierachies, often mundane or even slice-of-life scenes - being grounded in the world makes the fantastical all that much more impressive when it comes up.
Sergey Sakharov's ideal table
I tend to run collaborative tables - that is, I love it when players share in the worldbuilding and we can piggyback off of each other's ideas. Makes the game better in the end.

I love it when a player
has clear goals and objectives for their character!
I think min/maxing...
is a choice you make, and then you deal with the consequences.
