When I'm not running games I'm...

Usually I'm hanging out with my partner and our kids and our cat Orbit. I'm a night time reader, daytime writer/game designer; I like playing video games, taking out a walk, or hanging out at my local game shop. Sometimes I craft game material out of wood or foam in my garage.

How DM Steve runs games

I love role-playing and encounter building, and I love experimenting with different TTRPGs. I'm always trying to stretch my horizons with game playing. Clarifying intent, verifying precedence, and coming to conclusion. Debate and negotiation are welcome. Usually, if it takes too long, Ill make a ruling and come back to it after the game. As the GM, I reserve final judgement on the rule/ruling.

I like to make the most of the time we're there for, so I look to shepherd off-topic conversations and minimize distractions. I like to include music and effects, maps, and other game-aids to help express the experience better for you and all of us.

I think metagaming...

is not a big issue and doesn't happen often at my tables. When it has come up, the groups I've played with have been self-enforcing, just follow standard etiquette.

a group of respectful, generous, and joyful people who are passionate about the hobby and interested in sharing the fun. I also like curious gamers who are looking for ways to grow as a player and a member of the table.
