About me
Welcoming GM of 7.5 years. Veteran Critical Role and Dimension 20 Fan. Lifetime Nerd and Safety Tool Advocate 💪
GM Style
Bidet y'all! Sam here! (He/Him). I’ve been GMing RPGs for 7.5 years now and have run games for many different groups in my time, including a pair of long-term campaigns. I am currently running three professional games a week (2 DnD, 1 Candela) as well as a 3+ year long home game set in Exandria. Outside of GMing professionally, I work as a martial arts instructor, am training to become a mindfulness teacher and am a semi-professional musician ⚔ My two biggest inspirations as a GM are Critical Role’s Matt Mercer and Dimension 20’s Brennan Lee Mulligan, and my games tend to follow a similar play style to both of their shows: incorporating all 3 Pillars of Play (Exploration, Combat and Social Interaction), focusing on fostering an empathetic relationship between all members of the group, ensuring everyone gets a chance to shine and leaving plenty of room for both dramatic moments…and also giggling cus the Wild Magic Sorcerer managed to turn into a sheep twice in 5 sessions (good times) 🐑 I’ve had years to hone my craft and provide an experience for players that is engaging, personalised and entertaining. While I do like to keep my games structured so things feel meaningful, I do tend to operate under the rule that generally Story > Rules (within reason) and weave each character’s backstory into the tale to create a rich experience. I have been on the receiving end of bad GM experiences as a player, so I know how bad DnD feels and some of the pitfalls that can cause it, which I have become proficient in navigating over the years. In my job as an instructor, I always introducing new students to kickboxing and watching them find their own love for it in the process. This is very much mirrored in myself as a GM: I want my players to have a good time, forget about their troubles for a while and hopefully learn something new in the process, particularly if this is one of their first experiences of DnD 🖤 As a musician myself, incorporating music and atmospheric sounds in my games has been something I've done from the very beginning. I have collected a library of music and atmospheric tracks that I incorporate into my games to help players get into the groove and immerse themselves more in the world. I also use my acting and vocal skills from my performance background to embody the different characters within the game to aid in immersion and make the experience more fun, with my voice changer app and soundboard adding further fire to the chaos… 🎙 “Sam is something special. He has all the green flags: good in depth session 0, respectful play and regular check-ins, organised, attentive, and hard working. The combat is always challenging and interesting. Role play is immersive as he uses voice changers, thematic music, and sound effects. The effort he puts in to back story, and the story as a whole, makes you look forward to every session.” -Munch (Current player since 2023) Hope to see you in one of my games! Cheers gang! 👍

Currently I have the great honor of enjoying my second campaign with this creative genius of a Game Master. I am wholeheartedly happy that I had the great luck of stumbling upon him a couple of years ago. This current campaign may only take a couple of weeks but my journey with him also included a longer campaign that has been going on for a few years as well as a couple of One-Shots and I am only looking forward for more. He is definitely experienced in setting up an epic theatre of the mind enhanced by well picked art, underlining NPC backstories, ambience forming soundtracks and fitting mood enhancing voices. If there is anything that one could complain about, it might only be the rather challenging encounters as well as consequence-bearing decisions you as players/your characters might have to face. However I have yet to meet an encounter of his that is too challenging. So if you are looking for a way too easy and mostly boring campaign, he might not me the best choice for you but should you find joy in facing challenges in a well paced manner, hitting the edges of your own self-conscious finding how you might act in these potential situations, then you should absolutely give him a shot. But if there is something I personally love the most about joining his sessions, it is the welcoming atmosphere that allows you to let loose every week, or however often your sessions might be scheduled. It is perfect to fully embrace your character roles and roleplay with the rest of the party and the NPCs. For everyone who might not be too much into roleplaying, I can only recommend to roleplay with the NPCs. It will be totally worth your efforts. Hope my experiences here might help you to get a feel for what you might be getting into when signing up with Sam.
I have had a number of sessions hosted by Mythmaker, and my experiences have seen that he is a welcoming DM for newbies and veterans alike. He is inventive, welcoming to player creativity, offers an immersive experience, and I have had so many fun sessions with the campaigns that he has crafted. Highly recommended.
Unreal DM! The amount of effort he puts into not just the sessions, but character background and development is second to none. Our sessions so far have been worth more than every penny and I look forward to the curveballs he throws every week. If you're into great RP, great combat and fantastic quality sessions he is well worth booking.
A DM capable of rolling with the punches of his players, as well as keeping them on their toes at any moment, all while tying a well-woven story together that makes the players feel their characters are a part of it - That is Sam. Sam works with his players to help them create the characters they want to play, and then enables them to shape the story in a way that becomes uniquely theirs. He does not shy away from improv and actively adapts to the world and story to the players' choices. This includes fun, quirky moments, all the way up to character-defining and story-changing. The experience is enhanced further with a plethora of music, background ambiance, and individual voices and personalities for all NPCs. If you want a DM who can assume the role of both a fair mediator and a fun antithesis to your characters, Sam is an excellent man to run your game and one I would recommend in a heartbeat! Sam - Thank you for the amazing and unforgettable moments! I no longer trust household furniture!
Sam is an awesome DM! I've been playing for a few sessions now and Sam has shown himself to be capable, fair, and fun. He provides challenge and room for creativity. There's never a single clear path to how we can approach a scenario, it is entirely our choice and Sam is effortlessly ready to adapt with characters, events, music, and just the best voices. I'm very lucky to have found him online. Sam handles communication with professionalism and will support you along the way. I'd highly recommend giving him a try.
