About Michaela
Hello, my name is Michaela! I’m a passionate geek who loves Dungeons and Dragons! I’ve been playing for a little more than 5 years with most of that serving as the DM for a home-brew campaign. I also DM games for kids as well. At my table, I prefer a relaxed approach to rules to allow easy entry for new players and more room for imaginative problem-solving and awesome combat moments. My favorite thing about D&D is sharing the hobby with others. This game has brought me so many fun memories, good friends, and creativity and I want to share that with others.

I became a GM because
I wanted to tell stories, to make friends, to make memories, and to share the joy of this awesome hobby.
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
D&D 5e, Vampire the Masquerade 5e, and Root: The Woodland Game of Might and Right.
When I'm not running games I'm...
playing in D&D and Vampire the Masquerade games with my friends.
How Michaela runs games
For my games I use D&DBeyond.com. If you are new to the game, I'm happy to coach you through each step from character creation to combat and spellcasting. Roleplay is definitely one of the best aspects of the game for me. So I try to make plenty of room for it between daring combat. Making unique and memorable NPCs to staff shops and populate the world is another one of my favorite things to do. I try to build combat encounters to be exciting and cinematic, but beatable with the difficulty ramping up when the story deems it necessary. Combat has more opportunity for roleplay as I encourage players to describe how their spells look and how they fell their foes. We live by the Rule of Cool at my table. If you can weave me a good yarn or paint an awesome picture, I'm definitely willing to bend the rules so we can have cool or hilarious character moments. I love to celebrate Natural 20's with heroics and accomplishing the impossible. Natural 1's are met with the same fanfare as failures will be comical or devastating. Visually, two forms of imagination aid are used: Set pieces - an image meant to convey the setting in non-combat situations. These images are generated via AI, sourced from the internet, or drawn by me. Combat maps - gridded maps of a combat area w/ tokens to represent players and enemies. These are generated via AI, sourced from the internet, or created by me. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! :)
