🦘 G'day! My name is Matt and I've been playing D&D since 2019! 🐣 I fell into this amazing game after strangely finding myself repeatedly listening to a randomly suggested Star Wars roleplaying campaign on Spotify during my long commutes to work. I was completely mesmerised by this amazing and addictive power of collaborative storytelling and so, back in December 2019, I walked into my local hobby store and bought the D&D Starter Set and jumped into this magical world. I've been loving it ever since! 🍰 To me, D&D is like baking a cake with your mates. You put all these amazing (and often weird) ingredients in the batter and you serve up whatever surprise cake you get. GM Style
I adore sitting back to watch players brainstorm, discuss lore and develop their backstories and relationships. I perform character voices as I embody NPCs and I’m respectful when to be serious or comical. I am a firm believer that the table is responsible for crafting the story and sharing the spotlight evenly amongst one another. While not required, I’m also a big fan of overland travel and making the world feel alive, encouraging players to interact with their surroundings, prepare for the journey ahead, and manage their supplies whilst travelling. Regarding combat, I play creatures in a way that best fits their nature, whether that be savagely or intelligently. I’m favourable of using hard and deadly encounters more when they suit the story, and I enjoy letting players blow off steam and demolish weak encounters now and then. At the end of the day, I want my players to feel EPIC. Character death should only be expected when encountering critical story moments.

Matthew is a great DM--from the visual setting, to the ambient sounds, to the character voices--I felt fully emersed in the world. Matthew really played along with how I wanted to play my character, and allowed for creativity and rewarded fun roleplay experiences. Most importantly, Matt was enthusiastic and welcoming. At least he made me, as the odd player out, being both non-native english speaker and having no experience with the game system feel comfortable and his obvious enjoyment of the game was contageous. We were four random players, with different ideas and focus on the game, thrown together. The game being a one off, we pretty much just threw ourselves into it and Matt did a great job at being more the eyes and ears of our characters than an organizer and chairman of a gaming session.

Matt puts in the effort and makes sure that his game is engaging, with lots of great art, music, and sound effects. He's an expert at Forge VTT, and has helped us as players. He's also absolutely nailed the 'mods' and addons for Forge VTT to create an immersive experience. He's led our group through sessions of the Curse of Strahd. We've had a fluctuating player base, and he's managed that very well administratively and mechanically. I was very happy with the 'Session 0' and Matt's intent to ensure all his players felt comfortable.
