About me

I'm Salem, I'm 24, and I love playing Monster of the Week. I discovered this game system by listening to The Adventure Zone: Amnesty, and I fell in love with it. To date, I've been a player for a single game (womp womp) but the Keeper for seven games, including four that I homebrewed to include elements from other media! I love diverse horror, cryptids, classic monsters, and unique game mechanics. Character creation is my favorite aspect of playing!! I encourage my players to flesh out their characters as much as possible, talk with each other outside of the session to develop their characters' relationships, and really take over the worldbuilding process. Writing collaboratively is the most fun way to write, imo. I prefer playing over Discord. I have server structures specifically for games. I'm also good at playing over voice or text, whichever my players prefer. I also like to have built-in turn-taking so slow typers have a chance to act! In my free time, I write, play video games, watch YouTube videos (currently stuck in an indie horror game spiral), and hang out with my stinky cat.

GM Style

I'm very roleplay-focused (of course, because I play MOTW). I also tend to do a lot of character development outside sessions just for fun. I keep few notes on what I want to happen in a session; rather, I let the characters drive the narrative and roll with the punches. I like to keep things light and humorous when characters aren't in dangerous situations. I kinda do character voices, but the pressure is a little much sometimes, lol. But I do like bringing supplemental audio and visuals into my sessions! I'm not a big fan of involved tactics or hard, near-impossible challenges. Above all, I want everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves. I'm wide open to diverse players, disability-friendly, and prepped to make everyone feel safe and welcome.
