About me

I'm Ben Jaffe, longtime actor/improvisor in various community theater, longtime writer who studied at NYU's Film School, and longtime DM, and I want to make it easy for you to play Dungeons and Dragons. I've been DM-ing for seven years now and in that time I've introduced over twenty players of all ages to the world of Tabletop RPG. First and foremost I want to make this YOUR experience. Before we begin, I'll want to know what fiction you've enjoyed that led you to wanting to forge your own adventures. If you want this to be a Weekly Jump Style action series, if you're a fan of Dimension 20 and want a comedic romp through fantasy, if you're a Jane Austen fan and want this to be heavily based on character development, then I want that for you too. I've been studying genre since I could reach the on button on the TV and I want to use my history their for you. Even more first and foremost, I want the games I run to be places of mutual respect. I have limitless patience for people doing their best to have a good time, and I will be very considerate to make sure all players involved are having a good time. My storytelling influences include but are not limited to: One Piece, Dimension 20, the DC Animated Universe, Brandon Sanderson, and most recently Will Wight. Alright, that's enough reading. GM style

Roleplay is why I'm here. I love the parameters that the rules provide and I stick to them, but that's because they help service story. My background is acting and improv, and I love doing voices. I try to go big early with characters so that my players feel comfortable doing the same if they so wish. Once I get a sense of the tone you're going for, that's the tone I'm going to hit. My other love is fantasy action. I'm happy to emulate fast and brutal action of something like The Raid or John Wick and equally happy to emulate the triumphant but no less dramatic action of something like the MCU or One Piece.
