About me

I have been a DM since 2016. In that time I have run well over 18 games, totalling more than 100 sessions, and have introduced about 50 people into the world of Tabletop Roleplaying Games. I am now in my early 20s and am still driven to DM more and more! I love the collaborative story-telling element of TTRPGs and always strive to make an interesting story for my players to experience. I primarily play D&D 5e but have been a GM for other systems before such as PBTA ones with Masks or Apocalyse World. Some of my favourite 'niche' (to most audiences at least) media is Worm by Wildbow, Bigtop Burger by Worthikids, and Mairimashita! Iruma-kun by Osamu Nishi.

GM style

I still think I have much to learn and grow despite my over half decade of experience! I would not consider myself a 'professional' but am definitely constantly trying to improve. As a DM, I appreciate drama and angst, especially as players engage with the story and characters that I have laid out for them. As a player, I do love some (light!) power-gaming: building a character up to theoretically have insane damage outputs and optimised tactics. I try to cater to both of these styles and keep them in my mind while I am DMing. Most of my games are often more combat focused than roleplay focused initially, but once the group has built a rapport and dynamic, I tend to roleplay more and dangle interesting hooks for players. I assign some optional 'homework' in my games as part of the homebrew rules I use, which mechanically reward players for their engagement and for emboding their character. I would say I know the 5e rules nearly by heart, save for the occasional mistake. I view the rules as a useful constraint that adds fun by imposing limits that require thought and planning to work around. Nonetheless, what I value most is consistency and logic, so I am not shy to change rulings from how they were written if they are nonsensical but do enforce new rules fairly and evenly. I hope you'll enjoy my games!
