About me
Greetings! thanks for taking the time to check out my information. I'm a longtime D&D player and forever DM, starting out with BECMI/1E and working my way through 2nd, 3rd, and a very brief stint in 4e. I currently run several 5th edition games, and would love to host more. I am happy running one-shots, short adventure series, or full-length campaigns, and am well-versed in many of the settings, including Greyhawk, Mystara, Planescape, Forgotten Realms (Toril), and Dragonlance (Krynn). Additionally, I have "refereed" campaigns in Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Twilight:2000 and Cyberpunk 2020 role playing game systems, and am currently revisiting Pathfinder 2e and "OSR" systems. I am delighted to have the opportunity to meet new folks and continue sharing the love and joy that is Dungeons and Dragons. Currently I will be focusing on 5th edition adventures, but am willing to discuss other editions and game systems. I will be hosting all games via discord; we will use dndbeyond for shared library access and encounter creation (allowing for shared dice rolling). VTT's are negotiable; I am versed in roll20 use as well. Game sessions will be preceded by a no-cost session zero; I firmly believe that the play group should invest some time into each other prior to committing to a collaborative gaming endeavor. Whether we are simply meeting for a simple one shot, a new player tutorial, or episode 23 of a long-running campaign, I will do my best to insure that players are comfortable with each other and myself before the first die is rolled. Feel free to check out my youtube channel (found in my information links). I have several classic module reviews, some tutorials and live play sessions; you can get a preview of who I am and how I DM before signing up. Feel free to contact me prior to signing up for any adventures if you have any questions.
GM Style
I am a flexible GM, supporting a wide variety of playstyles and activities. In combat encounters, I try to use the environment to add creativity and opportunities to the encounter. I don't believe that "every fight has to be deadly" - some fights are just there to establish a story beat. I fully support roleplay and dialog heavy campaigns as well; intrigue and investigations are entertaining as well. I am not a voice actor, but will provide enough difference between NPC's to be discernable and memorable. I prefer to let the GROUP and PLAYERS lead me - I see what the interests are for the group, what excites them, and build off of that.

Teacher
Jim has been playing/DM'ing D&D since he was a kid and has a wealth of knowledge about the game. He is passionate about teaching folks to play and he is all about collaboration; building a story with his players instead of for them. He is a very talented world builder but is able to create an exciting and fun world while maintaining player agency but at the same time is very good at helping players work together. He is brilliant at creating maps that help players see the world, he can also weave a theater of the mind picture with words that is just as effective. He really can bring to the table whatever the players need to have a great experience.
