About Luke
Hi! I’m Luke, a film director and storyteller who discovered D&D during lockdown. What started as a fun escape quickly turned into a passion, and before long, my skills as a film writer meant I was nominated to be put behind the DM screen. My filmmaking background influences every session I run. I approach the game with a focus on cinematic pacing, emotional stakes, rich worldbuilding, and memorable NPCs. I love crafting sessions that feel like stepping into a living story, full of tension, humour, drama, and moments that players talk about long after the dice stop rolling. One of the things my players appreciate most is how I integrate their backstories directly into the main narrative. I believe every character deserves meaningful spotlight time, personal choices that matter, and twists that tie their history into the larger plot in unexpected ways. My goal is to make players feel like they’re shaping the world, not just adventuring through it. I strive to create welcoming, collaborative tables where creativity thrives and everyone feels comfortable exploring their character. Whether your favourite moments are high-stakes battles, heartfelt roleplay or shocking reveals, I aim to deliver an experience that’s engaging, immersive, and uniquely tailored to the group. If you’re looking for a DM who brings cinematic storytelling, energy, and a genuine love for collaborative adventure, I’d be thrilled to have you at my table.

I got started GMing...
Over Lockdown, we took it in turns to be the DM. My campaign was voted the best, as the BBEG, was secretly one of the players, who picked a different NPC to murder between each session. That reveal was... it could be my proudest writing achievement.
My favorite shows/movies are
Is Lord of the Rings a cop out answer for a DM. Well, tough... because everything about those movies are beautifully crafted and lovingly put together. A close second would be the first Jurassic Park for how well it has aged.
When I'm not running games I'm...
making movies. My debut feature film The Edible Underwear Club has just finished and is hitting streaming very soon. Just like my D&D campaigns, I love telling stories in any way possible.
How Luke runs games
My GM style is rooted in cinematic storytelling, shaped by my background as a film director. I focus on creating sessions that feel dynamic, character-driven, and emotionally engaging. Expect dramatic pacing, memorable NPCs, atmospheric scenes, and story beats that unfold with the rhythm of a great movie. I place a strong emphasis on player agency and making characters feel central to the narrative. Your backstories won’t sit on a shelf: they become the backbone of the campaign. I build personal arcs, emotional stakes, and surprising twists that tie each character’s past into the larger plot in meaningful ways. My goal is for every player to feel seen, valued, and essential to the unfolding story. In play, I balance roleplay, exploration, and tactical combat, creating encounters that challenge both creativity and strategy. I encourage collaboration, character growth, and bold decisions. I also maintain a welcoming, inclusive table where everyone can contribute comfortably and enjoy the journey together. If you enjoy immersive storytelling, thought-provoking choices, cinematic action, and plots that evolve around your character, you’ll feel right at home at my table.
Luke's ideal table
I am fairly open to letting the players take the lead. My ideal table involves us all telling a story together. I love it when a player does something that might hurt them in the short term - wasting a turn in combat to grieve a fallen NPC - but fuels the narrative we are building together. I am very comfortable walking beginners through the campaign, but if you are experienced and want to develop a character... I'm more than happy to give you room to do that.
