About me

Hello there! I'm Nox Aeternus, or Johnathan, and I've been a Storyteller/Game Master since I first picked up a copy of Vampire the Masquerade Revised Ed when I was 13. I'm also a writer developing a STV Mage the Ascension supplement, and I'm one of the co-founders of Cerberus Interactive Media, a Nordic-style LARP production studio. I utilize Discord voice and video for my game sessions - I tend to ask for video as well as voice, because I utilize the Okay Check-In System as one of the many calibration tools that I make available at my tables, and because it's helps me as a game runner gauge if my players are okay. Irl, I'm a widower, an IT and cybersecurity professional, and a cat dad. I am a Latino transgender man, so I very much do not tolerate bigotry or discrimination of any kind at my tables.

GM Style

I'm a very narrative-first and story-first GM. I value meaningful story and emotional impact over a lot of number crunching and stat throwing, but that isn't to say I never have any of that in my games. As a GM, I bring to the table a lot of musical thematics, images, voices for characters and worlds/settings that feel populated. I like to use Discord because it allows me to send side notes to players when something important/impactful for their character comes up, when a flaw triggers, etc., so that they can react and surprise others. My preference for narrative and story isn't to say that I never run combat - I absolutely will. And when I run it, I like to make it feel dramatic and high-stakes.
