About me

Hello! My name is Twi (short for Twilight). My pronouns are he/him, they/them, and she/her. I'm agender, hindu, and a total nerd who loves all things sci-fi and fantasy, from Star Wars to Pokémon to Lord of the Rings. I've been playing tabletop role-playing games ever since I was 10 years old and received the 3rd edition D&D starter box as a Christmas present. I was the DM right away! And I honestly fell in love with the role. Getting to set up the adventures the players would go on and the monsters and villains they'd defeat really tickled my writer funny-bone. I quickly became interested in worldbuilding and game design, and have spent the past 20 years or so constantly improving my craft. Both in terms of running fun games for everyone, and in creating the worlds I want to run. I've learned from many others in this hobby, sometimes just by listening to them discuss it and even asking them questions, but sometimes by watching them play or even playing a character in their games. My GM philosophy is really quite simple: we're all here to have a fun time pretending to be someone else, somewhere else. I encourage everyone at the table to be honest about what they want to get out of the game, I insist on mutual respect for everyone at the table, and at the end of every session I like to ask everyone what they enjoyed (and perhaps what they might not have enjoyed so much).

GM Style

I like to make games feel cinematic. There's a strong adherence to turn-order, and combat can be very tactical at times. But throughout it all is a feeling of tension, action, and immersion. Keeping the role-playing going even combat is encouraged but certainly not required. I love to put little exploratory incentives into the game everywhere, and reward curiosity and heroism. In my non-professional games I enjoy tracking weight of supplies and coin, expenditure of food and water, use of ammunition, and other resource management things. But I know this is not everyone's cup of tea. If you're paying me to GM a game, I want to make sure you're getting your money's worth of fun! And if resource management is boring to you, that's a waste of your money. Just let me know ahead of time and I won't include that part of the game. I'm a very descriptive and informative GM. Coming from a background of mostly playing theater of the mind games, I rely on my clear and evocative descriptions to paint a full picture of the in-game environment for you, regardless of any visual aids.
