About me

My name is Kevin(He/Him) and I am a DM with around three years of experience. I come from a Comp-Sci/History background and am currently enrolled as a CS/HCI major at my state university. My preferred platform of choice Is Foundry VTT due to the tools and visuals that I have access to. I take pride in the visual flair and accessibility of the games I offer. I first started having a passion for tabletop gaming after painting my first Warhammer 40,000 miniatures and playing many video games that have derived elements from them. One thing I remember that always turned me away from DND and other similar PRG's as a child was the mechanical complexity of the rules and logistics of getting everyone together. When I discovered VTT's this changed overnight. I enjoy making dynamic and living worlds for players to experience using my background knowledge of history, geography, military, and science.I have always had a passion for all history across the Earth and I believe it is one of the greatest places to draw inspiration for world-building from. During my off time, I often write as a hobby. What actually drew me into making homebrew and eventually being designated DM was a way to share the worlds and settings I have created. Expect detailed narration of the many places you will visit(and brawl in) that feel like actual places and not set pieces. I take a very laid-back approach to Narrate the world and dislike having to go into the rules lawyer territory. The theatre of the mind to the players is always my top priority. It would be a pleasure for me to narrate an epic journey for your character of choice.

GM style

Combat Heavy: If you enjoy meaty, visceral combat with every roll then you have come to the right place. Every combat encounter is a satisfying challenge built from the study of both military history and game design. As your character firmly plants their dirt-covered boots in the corpse-stricken mud ready to best any challenge thrown at them; roll that dice from the comfort of your home and imagine that hack and swing like you meant it. No Deus-ex-Machina or forced plot points to stifle combat, when you Roll the initiative you know the sounds of bloodshed and strife will soon follow. Combat and General gameplay are aided by foundries' amazing automation. Almost everything required can be done with a press of a quick button, meaning you don't have to break the immersion to ask the GM how to do something. Foundry provides me to the ability to use and create many macros that allow me to handle what I need as a GM with ease. Dynamic Worlds: I prefer a much more open-world OSR style of DM'ing. I am not afraid to say NO to shenanigans, but I am a firm believer in the philosophy of "Free to try, not free from consequences". If you believe something can work and you can defend why it would work, roll away. Worlds are supposed to feel functional and alive. Even if your character thinks little of complicated words such as "Governance", "Economics ", "Borders" and “Diplomacy”, the world and its institutions/governments will always work in the background and respond to the player's action as another living entity. Accessible: What I like to praise about the RPG systems and VTTs I use is how simple they are to use. Recent technology and newer rules/games/systems have streamlined the experience of playing a tabletop RPG so much that I have absolutely no fear of sitting someone down and teaching them how to play. Teaching someone what they need to know is quick and easy and I will always make the time to make sure players understand what they want to know. An accessible system is nothing without an accessible DM.
