About me
Greetings! Allow me to bring you the epic tale of Ari, known as Gryphon. This tale begins 29 years ago, in a small town in a land known for fertile fields and fertile minds. Raised by a master of games, she was schooled in the ways of the tabletop from an early age. Blessed (or perhaps cursed) with a powerful imagination, our heroine has been crafting worlds and shepherding adventurers for nigh two decades now, forging friendships and enjoying all the pain and pleasure of each unique journey. I've run everything from strictly structured and strictly scheduled modules for convention play to totally open world custom games where anything can happen. I've spent most of my time running in 5e, but have recently branched into PF2e as well. I enjoy running games with all the bells and whistles, props, soundtracks, fancy lighting, etc. - but I enjoy theater of the mind with nothing but descriptive language just as much. Each game is its own experience tailored to the needs and preferences of the group.
GM Style
As a GM, my goal is always a good story and a fun time for the group, so my style varies from game to game and group to group. I enjoy all the aspects of a game, and in my perfect game, I wouod have a balance of all the elements, but I truly enjoy myself as long as my players are having a good time! I can have just as much fun with a group of combat focused murderhobos who interrupt with dad jokes constantly as with a group focused on heavy roleplay and deep intrigues intent on immersion (though I prefer the latter when I'm a player). I prefer my worlds to be rich and living, full of three dimensional characters, politics, cultures, and plots and events that exist independent of the players - the world isn't just frozen and nonexistent until you get there, and it reacts to your actions and choices based on its history, culture, politics, and the personalities of NPCs. I'm more inclined to prep the setting than a specific story, because the story is what we tell together, based on your actions and the world's reactions. I can never know where the story will go until it does - because I don't control the narrative, I don't usually lay out a path for you to follow, I discover with you where your choices take you. Of course, I'm experienced and capable at running structured games with set plot points on a strict timeline, as is necessary for convention timeslots. I can nudge and guide without breaking immersion and keep a game on schedule following a pre-set story. More structure, less freedom, and knowing exactly what to expect from the game is what some players prefer, and I am happy to deliver.
