About Anistuffs

Hello and welcome. I'm Ani, a let's player, livestreamer, and TTRPG enthusiast from India. I found out about TTRPGs being a thing in my early twenties, and got into the hobby soon after. I've since played many games across many systems. I started GMing in 2017 and I've since run many oneshots and campaigns (my longest being a Monster of the Week campaign set in Ancient Egypt that lasted over 2 years). My preferred type of games are campaigns, as I really enjoy seeing character development of the PCs over multiple sessions. Narrative-focused collaborative storytelling is the greatest appeal of TTRPGs for me. Here's my Youtube channel where I mostly stream videogames, but there’s also a few Actual Plays of some of the TTRPGs I’ve ran: https://www.youtube.com/Anistuffs

I got started GMing...

...in 2017, when I ran a short space sci-fi campaign lasting 9 sessions. I properly started GMing using an actual system the next year in 2018, with a campaign of Masks: A New Generation set in Australia, which lasted about 7 months.

My favorite system of all Time is

Monster of the Week (well, for now, at least). I think it is a phenomenally versatile system that can be applicable to far more game concepts that even the creators predicted. My first game using it was set in an Ancient Egypt setting instead of the default modern day urban fantasy setting.

When I'm not running games I'm...

...livestreaming videogames on Youtube. I've been making gaming videos on Youtube since 2010 semi-regularly. Currently, I mostly play FTL: Faster Than Light and Minecraft custom maps.

📖 Narrative-focused and Story-driven 🎥 Cinematic Experiences 🗺 Imaginative Worldbuilding 🤝 Collaborative Storytelling 😎 Rule of Cool I prefer a roleplay-heavy cinematic experience from TTRPGs, and that is exactly what I aim to deliver as a GM. Campaigns with collaborative storytelling and deep character development are always the central focus in my games. I use theatre of the mind, with reference images to set the scene and mood. I will weave your character's backstory and goals into the narrative, I will hype about your characters doing cool things, and I will challenge them over the course of the campaign to have an awesome narrative arc that will stay with all of us long after the game concludes. I strongly emphasise 'play to find out' and I believe player agency is sacred. I aim to engross the players in the story and the world. And an awesome narrative will always triumph over rules and mechanics. Inclusivity and player enjoyment is always the focus on my table. So join me as we embark on this epic quest together.

I deal with rules issues by...

...discussing with the group on what makes the most sense or what is the most interesting/engaging from the story perspective and going with that. This is why I enjoy games like Monster of the Week or Masks, where this is part of the system.

My games focus on...

...collaborative storytelling and cinematic roleplay. I enjoy delving into character arcs for every player's characters, and making these arcs as important as the ongoing central plot of the campaign.

Rules are...

... secondary to roleplay. My games always focus on cinematic roleplaying and collaborative storytelling. If the rules ever get in the way of good story or roleplay, I change the rules.

I am for a vibe that's...

...both serious and comedic. Think of movies like The Mummy (with Brendan Fraser), Tremors or Van Helsing. There's serious moments of horror or tragedy, but also comedic moments of levity. And that's the vibe I tend to go with in my games.

I love it when a player

is proactive and engages with the story. I absolutely love it when players approach me with ideas for short and long term goals for their characters which they are willing to work with me to incorporate in the campaign.

My table is not the place for...

metagaming, powergaming, rules lawyering, murderhoboing, erotic roleplaying.
