About P.C. Graves
I started playing AD&D in 1984 with my dad and his friends. As a teen, I played constantly. I launched my D20 publishing company in 2002 and have since written more than 80 top-selling titles on DriveTruRPG. What You Can Expect: *A fast-paced game with plenty of skill challenges and interesting combat scenarios. *Difficult situations that can be overcome with luck, skill, and bravery. *Mature elements and themes.

I got started GMing...
The very next day after playing my first session. I gamed for the first time on a Friday night with my dad and his friends. The next morning, I took the books to my friend's house and taught him and his brother to play.
My favorite shows/movies are
The list is too long to post here but includes things like: The Northman HBO's Rome Gotham Legend Conan the Barbarian Any Sword and Sorcery movie from the 80s The Dark Crystal Pulp Fiction Dare Devil
When I'm not running games I'm...
Working on game material or researching history or science. Watching Youtube videos about gaming, DMing, history, and music.
How P.C. Graves runs games
I am more of a narrator than an actor. My favorite aspects of the game are the tactics, problem solving, and story telling. So my games are heavy with those features. I also like the game to move along quickly. I try to avoid things that slow the game down, like looking up rules or spending a long time describing every detail. If I don't know the rule off the top of my head, we will make a call and keep going rather than stop the game to look something up. I'll describe the details that matter, but I'll gloss over things that don't. Every attack does not need a vivid description. I also try to be as prepared as possible, so the game runs as smoothly as possible.

...currently, I am trying to play 5e (2024) as written. In time, I will probably make some changes.
When it comes to voices
I usually don't. I'm not an actor and I soon run out of voices... but sometimes I'll throw one in. More often, I either narrate the dialog and describe the scene. Sometimes slip into first person speaking.
P.C. Graves's ideal table
We do a little bit of roleplaying and storytelling, interacting with NPCs and developing a plot. But we also do a lot of combat encounters with tactical challenges.

I am for a vibe that's...
casual and fun, democratic and cooperative.
I love it when a player
Is engaged with the game, creates interesting characters, has good ideas and takes risks. Some players really know how to be heroes.
I think metagaming...
Sometimes is ok and sometimes interferes with the immersive experience. I am constantly working on honing the fine line between allowing metagaming in a way that enhances immersion, but also restricting it in ways that also helps immersion.
