About me

Hello, DM Polar here, or Nicolás. I have been playing TTRPG for about seven years, starting my first game with D&D 3.5/ Pathfinder, and then delving deeper into other games, like Chronicles of Darkness: Vampire The Requiem and Warhammer Fantasy RPG 2nd Edition. These were my first experiences as a player, and I quickly got into D&D 5e, my first game being a Curse of Stradh. About three years ago I started DMing for people in my local town, starting with the amazing D&D adventure Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, where I fell in love with the characters and the idea of crafting a story alongside the players. I then got into Vampire: The Masquerade 5e, as well as several PBTA games as I grew fond of the system and narrative of World of Darkness and Powered by the Apocalypse. Ever since I was a child I had an active imagination. I read fantasy books, and little did I know that there was an entire hobby around storytelling together. I enjoy the aspect of building a story alongside the players, and having a good time while we build something together. If fantasy books, like Dragonlance, brought me to start playing 3.5/ Pathfinder, I think what allowed me to stay was having an active imagination and sharing the experience with other people. There is something unique about sharing those moments with people that makes me happy. As a GM I focus a lot into the narrative, in trying to make a story alongside the players that makes everyone at the table have a good time. Roleplay for me is a focus on my stories, in order to know where the story should go next, but also the interaction with the player to make the world richer, as I think RPG games are a narrative experience built together by the storyteller and the players. I hope to encourage a safe space at my table, where everyone can enjoy it without pressure. I am LGBT+ friendly, so no bigotry or racism will be accepted in my games. Because this is a safe space, I also want to make it accessible to new players to try new systems and find what they enjoyed the most of. But I also like to run games to experience players that want to build new experiences together alongside me. Social etiquette is essential for my games, as well as an ambience of respect. As I said, I am LGBT+ friendly, and I do not stand for bigotry or any type of harassment. Anyone that is in a game with me and experience this can reach out to me. I will notify the person who is leaning towards an abrasive attitude, and if the attitude doesn’t change at the third warning, the player that has been misbehaving shall be expelled from the game. Also, I like to use the very wisely made “X card” from Powered by the Apocalypse, where you can notify me personally if anything has made you mad or upset, that way I can stop in my tracks and don’t repeat the same mistake twice with the same player. Players can notify me personally of anything that they might feel wrong in the game like hard or soft boundaries. I hope anyone that chooses me as his Storyteller gets to enjoy a good time as we make a story together and leave the table with the feeling they were able to shape a story with me and other people.

GM Style

I enjoy the roleplaying aspects of my games. Making a collaborative story with the players as we build the world together. I work with players to make the world richer as we delve into their backstories, and how they perceive the world around them.
