About me

I got my start with Dungeons & Dragons a little earlier than most. I was brought along by my father after school to his friend's house where I was supposed to sit and quietly do my homework while my mom was at work and he sat in the next room and played 3.5e with a group of 4 other guys, except I couldn't pay attention to the work in front of me because they kept laughing and yelling at each other across the table. Eventually, I ended up sitting in the room and observing, until finally my dad's best friend thought it would be absolutely hilarious to teach this quiet little 13 year old kid how to play. So they sat me at the table, rolled up a character with me and the rest is, as they say, history! I've played various systems; I started on 3.5e, then moved into Pathfinder for a few years, then a friend invited me to his table in college where they were playing 5e. I've played around with systems like Shadowrun, Blades in the Dark, Masks, Dread, Tales from the Loop, and many others. I tend to pick up the rulebooks for any systems I find even remotely interesting and then implement the things I learn from other systems into the games I run for D&D. It leads to much more diverse games and interesting mechanics that can excite even the more seasoned players. I'm a professional illustrator and character designer and I bring that into my games, which are rich with visual aids, maps, and character art.

GM style

I'm incredibly enthusiastic about character development and world building. You'll find games with me to be full of interesting bits of world lore and small details that make the world you're playing in that much more real. I give players a lot of time for roleplay, whether that's with each other or a favourite NPC of theirs. In order to make my world feel like a living, breathing thing I don't cap my encounters for campaigns (although I do for oneshots). There's every likelyhood that you might run into a creature far above what the party can handle and you might have to run, only to come back to it later when you're a bit more prepared. I rely on my players to understand that I don't hold their hand and guide them through the world, it's very much a sandbox. I give you ideas and goals but my games are always very much what the players want them to be, rather than what I say they're going to be.
