About John Pickle
I've been playing RPG's most of my life and love the connections and friendships that grow from them. While I enjoy running games I also have as much fun playing as well and games I run consider the desires of the players over module constrictions to keep things fun first. My first experience with D&D was as a DM and I very much enjoy 5th edition. I want all players to feel welcome in my games and for people to feel that they are safe, inclusive and fun.

How John Pickle runs games
My game mastering style is built around a strong appreciation for the three pillars of D&D: exploration, roleplay, and combat. I aim to create a balanced experience that gives each of these elements time to shine, but I also adapt to what the group enjoys most. If a party leans more toward one pillar, I’m happy to shift focus and build the experience around that preference. I enjoy bringing the world to life through character voices and NPC interactions, adding personality and immersion where I can. I also like designing engaging challenges—whether that’s tactical combat, meaningful social encounters, or the thrill of uncovering secrets through exploration. At the heart of it all, my goal is for players to feel excited, immersed, and rewarded—whether they’re deep in roleplay, strategizing through a tough fight, or discovering something new in the world around them.
John Pickle's ideal table
My ideal table is made up of a versatile group of players who each bring their own energy and perspective to the game. I enjoy a mix of personalities—players who are more outgoing and help drive the action, alongside those who may be quieter but still deeply engaged. There’s room for everyone, and different playstyles help create a richer experience for the whole group. What matters most to me is that everyone feels comfortable with each other and confident in their roleplay. A great table isn’t about being the loudest or the most experienced—it’s about creating a space where people can contribute in their own way and feel supported doing so. While players may start as strangers, my ideal group grows into something more over time. I love seeing a table evolve into a group of friends—and even something that feels like a family—as they share in the story, the challenges, and the victories together.
