About me

Hello, all! I'm John, and what I love most about RPGs can best be summarized by a quote from one of my favorite TV characters: I believe that stories help to ennoble ourselves, to fix what is broken in us, and to help us become the people we dream of being-- lies that tell a deeper truth. What I love most about tabletop RPGs, specifically, is the collaborative problem solving. As a DM, it's my job to make the hurdles and anticipate a few ways around them, but I am habitually surprised by what solutions players come up with instead, and I love the seat-of-your-pants rule bending improv that follows! I'm a sucker for grandiose, far-reaching, face-of-Faerun-altering campaigns. I've been told that even if I'm sometimes a little 'railroady', nobody has complaints about the scenery!

GM style

I try to focus on a collaborative story-building experience. I encourage players to occasionally describe *how* their character does the action they just described them doing. I encourage occasionally speaking in the first person as your character, but by no means is it required. I try to gauge the party's interest in roleplay, skill challenges, combat, exploration, and puzzle solving, then adjust accordingly. I thrive on feedback so that I can tailor your game experience to you!
