About the adventure

A dark secret lies at the heart of the prosperous agricultural community of Promise, where inhabitants joyously celebrate a festival. You will yourself drawn to an unresolved tragedy whose source is a horrific being of immense power. Will you prevail, or will you be swallowed by the grief-fueled horror corrupting the land? Join us for horror, plenty of combat, and some exploration and roleplaying in a Southern Gothic-inspired Level 3 one-shot!

How to prepare

Gameplay details

Players should submit their lines and veils to me by direct message, and I will create a list of the group's collective lines and veils to avoid any triggering content. Players should note this adventure has some very dark themes, including themes of body horror, gore, grief, mind alteration, loneliness, and violence, with an allusion to a drowning incident. If these are likely to disturb you, please select another adventure, or message me to request accommodations. Players must sign onto a Code of Conduct in my Discord server before they begin play. The one-shot will include a 10-minute break at around the 2 hour mark. For this adventure, players can expect lots of combat, with some roleplaying and exploration. We will be using Roll20 for visuals (including battlemaps) and music, D&D Beyond for character sheets, and Discord for voice chat (video is strongly encouraged, but optional).

How will character creation work

Players should create their own Level 3 character using the following rules: • Creation of a unique character backstory • Standard array or point buy (27) stat creation • Player race and class from most published Wizards of the Coast content (no homebrew, Unearthed Arcana, Dragonlance, Eberron, Partnered (Critical Role, etc), Planescape, or Magic: The Gathering content)

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
