Wraith: The Oblivion - Anamnesis

About the adventure

"... the remembrance of things from a previous existence..." There is a war so ancient, no one remembers its name. You have been recruited into the latest skirmish in this primordial conflict. The Grim Legion requires your services and expertise for a dangerous mission in the Shadowlands, to recover an ancient artifact on behalf of the Smiling Lord himself. Your reward? An opportunity to cross the Shroud, and settle unfinished business among the Living... But this is a War, and there is always collateral damage. That becomes crystal-clear when along the way, an unknown enemy threatens your very existence, and the existence of everything you hold dear among the Living. Strike hard... Because for some reason, the Smiling Lord things *you* can end the War. And you *do not* want to let him down... THEMES: - Memory - Adventure - "It's always personal." WHO IS THIS GAME FOR: - People who want ADVENTURES IN THE REALM OF THE DEAD (and beyond!!); - People who like science, religion, philosophy or DEEPEST LORES in general; ABOUT THE SETTING: This game takes place in a world similar to, but with significant divergences from, the canonical Wraith: The Oblivion setting. We'll go over these differences during Sessions -1 and 0, but your characters are NOT expected to know much, so don't feel the need to worry about this. ABOUT SESSION(S) NEGATIVE ONE: We'll get together on Discord one-on-one, and discuss setting basics and characters. You'll pitch me one (or a few) character concepts, and we'll hash out your Wraith. THIS "SESSION" WILL BE FREE!! YOU WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS!! ABOUT SESSION ZERO: We'll get together on Discord as a group; I'll pull you into VC individually, we'll do your Prelude (explaining how/why you got the invite from Smiley), and then have the group meeting with the Smiling Lord and his people. ABOUT THE GAME: Weekly sessions, between 3 to 5 hours depending on how players feel and content. Sessions on Discord voice-chat, with Roll20 (or similar, depending on player preference) used when/if needed.

What I provide

I will bring the Game. :L I also have rulebooks available to borrow, and other resources. We will roll dice via Discord Bot.

Gameplay details

Players will NOT be playing each others' Shadows by default; If you would like to entrust your Shadow to another player, feel free; If you would prefer the Shadow be GM-controlled, that's also okay. Additionally, you are always allowed to negotiate/narrate encounters! If you'd rather not roll dice, simply say so and we can come to an agreement about how the encounter proceeds. Rolling dice will remain the 'default' option.

How will character creation work

Characters will be created with standard Wraith: The Oblivion (20th Anniversary Edition) rules. You will get a additional amounts of XP to spend after both Sessions -1 and 0. Characters can be created independently, but I *highly recommend* a Session -1 to discuss with GM first. I want to make sure your character is well-integrated into the setting!!

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
