About the adventure
Over a decade ago, the previous Open Lord, Dagult Neverember, embezzled half a million gold pieces from the city. When the other officials noticed, Dagult was ousted, but he disappeared before they could question him. No one ever found the missing gold, and to this day, the hoard has been sought after by factions, treasure hunters, and thieves alike. But rumor has it that Neverember's hoard can be located with the help of a magical artifact, and that this artifact has been rediscovered by unsavory individuals. Will you be able to thwart the various Villains from claiming the hoard? Aquisitions Inc. is now Hiring! (Free Cookies!) We shall be running Dragon Heist, an official module of Wizards of the Coast. Of course, I've made some adjustments, and the main plot is you're working for a custom group under Acquisitions Incorporated, a not-quite-there-yet band of heroes funded by the great (or so he claims) author, Volo Gedarm (of Volo's Guide to Monsters and other books). We will be using the D&D 5e ruleset, and you shall be starting at level 3, but advancement is fast (like almost every session). I'm hoping we can meet at least once a week, depending on everyone's schedule, and I project we'll take 13 sessions total to finish. If we play often, we'll finish in about a few months.
How to prepare
Aside from your character, please do your best to show up 30 minutes early if you can. This is so that if we need to discuss any details before we start, we can do so. Also for the beginning of the campaign, I ask that you give me at least one significant NPC your character interacts with in the city, for roleplay purposes.
What I provide
Our sessions will be played on Roll20. We shall have maps, tokens, and music through Discord.
The first half of the campaign will be adventuring and doing missions for Acq Inc, but once the Neverember Enigma starts as the villains vie for the artifact leading to the hoard, Heisting and Espionage for the main story take center stage. Overall, there will be lots of roleplay as Characters are what drive the story. I shall be asking you to also include at least one NPC made you the player so that your Player Character may have a special person to interact with to stake them into the world. There will also be combat, and the battles will always tie into the story and push the plot further. Exploration will also be planned for, and expect these segments to be very open world. These segments are mostly downtime and simply for fun to roam the city and visit places and people your character would like to check out. How will character creation work
Any of the official books, and you can reflavor/reskin the races/feature if you like! Level 3, Point buy for Stats and a free feat! and Average HP (but leveling up is fast, like every session ish) Homebrew may be allowed if it's minor, on a case by case basis.
