About the adventure

Curse of Strahd is the most iconic 5th Edition campaign so far released by Wizards of the Coast. It is a gothic horror story that traces its lineage to the early days of D&D and almost a century before D&D. You are part of an adventuring group that is transported against their will to a mist encircled lands of Barovia, ruled over with an iron fist by the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich. As you struggle to find a way to escape Barovia, you will find allies in unlikely places, and might even leave the land a better place when you finally do leave. I have run Curse of Strahd multiple times, and have been a player in it as well. Every time I go through it I notice something that had been omitted by mistake that would make it better, or I find ways to tweak it for a better experience. I am excited to bring everything I have yet found together for you.

How to prepare

Players will need a microphone and have at least a small amount of familiarity with D&D 5th Edition. While I am more than happy to have players who don't know the system well, they should have at least a basic idea of the rule set. They will also need to have an account with both Roll20 and Discord.

Gameplay details

Curse of Strahd is a fairly open sandbox that mostly centers around empowering the players while also damaging the big boss before a final confrontation in his castle. Sessions will most likely fail mainly into one of three categories. The first one is exploring each settled location and figuring out how to better the lives of those who live there. The second category is planning the next step, there are many times where the party needs to be sure how they would like to continue. And the final category is exploring the wilderness and retaking it from Strahd and his influence. It is unlikely that any given session will only have one of those three categories but most sessions will spend most of their time in just one of those categories.

How will character creation work

Characters will be created at level 1 as a group at the start of the first session. Group character creation tends to lead to most bonds between characters from the start as well as making sure that every role the party wants to have covered is covered.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
