About the adventure

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a treasure hunt set against an urban backdrop. The adventure's plot can be summarized as follows: Half a million gold coins are hidden in Waterdeep. Many individuals know about the cache and are looking for it. The Deep is threatened by escalating tension between two power groups that is on the verge of flaring into violence. The Zhentarim, a shadowy network of mercenaries, and Xanathar, the Beholder crime lord of Waterdeep, are at odds, and when they clash, the characters are pulled into the conflict. Beginners Welcome! Come join me in this Adventure as we journey through streets of Waterdeep uncovering the mystery of all those Dragons, a gold coin in Waterdeep. Session Zero is where we'll create our characters, together, as I'd like to tie characters together in some meaningful way. From numerous games over the years I have found this makes for a much easier start, particularly with players unfamiliar to each other. We'll be using the Sword Coast Heroic Chronicle to help flesh out characters, though more for inspiration. No history will hinge on a dice roll here. We'll get to know each other, share some experiences, have some laughs along the way. Session 1.... The adventure BEGINS!!!

Additional Details

How to prepare

Webcam optional, though I'll be using one, this isn't essential. A mic is a must when playing remotely. An account on Roll20 and Discord for audio. Character ideas and motives are helpful but we can work on this together as well. So an open mind and your attention is most valuable

What I provide

I'll bring the resources, from source books to maps. Attention to the details of your character and a desire to understand your direction with them. Character tokens, if players can provide images to represent characters then great, otherwise I will choose something I feel is fitting.

Gameplay details

This game will contain themes of magic and realism, politics and society, theft, mystery, tragedy, romance, moral ambiguity, violence, death and identity. It is very important to me that my table is inclusive and won't stand for anything else. Communication, Trust and Care are essential for us to have a good time. Pre Session 0 I encourage any players to share any hard lines they might have, any triggers to avoid and when to pull the curtain on any given scene. Anytime during or after the session, if you're made to feel uncomfortable by a scenario or another players' actions you can share with myself privately or within the group, whichever you prefer. If this happens during a session we could take a break and discuss the trigger privately or just curtain the scene if possible and continue. Whatever we need to do.

How will character creation work

Session Zero is where we'll create our characters, together, as I'd like to tie characters together in some meaningful way. From numerous games over the years I have found this makes for a much easier start, particularly with players unfamiliar to each other. We'll be using a Sword Coast version of The Heroic Chronicle during character creation, though more for inspiration. No history will hinge on a dice roll here.
