About the adventure

Volo needs your help! His friend Floon has gone missing, and with the rising escalations between the Zhentarim and the Xanathar Guild escalating in Waterdeep, it is up to you to find him before he becomes another casualty in another guild war. This rescue mission sets off a series of events that entangles your adventuring party deep into a bitter conflict between two rival unsavory organizations, but something even more nefarious may be hidden in the shadows. Waterdeep is a civilized and lawful city — adventurers will need to rely on their ingenuity and political savvy as they take on missions of investigation, reconnaissance, subterfuge and sabotage while avoiding the attention of the City Watch. This campaign is great for both first time and experienced D&D players alike as it quickly drops you into the action and gives you a taste of some of the best D&D has to offer.

How to prepare

To prepare for the game: 1) Please be sure to have a mic, speakers/headphones and webcam (although during gameplay it is fine for you to turn off your webcams). 2) Sign up for an account on D&D Beyond if you don’t have one already (I will send you a link to join our campaign) 3) Sign up for an account on Discord if you don’t have one anyway (I will send you a link to join my Discord server) 4) If you have your own set of polyhedral dice, feel free to bring and use those. Otherwise, you can also use the virtual dice on your D&D Beyond character sheet or you can role dice using text commands on Discord 5) If you desire, it would be great if you could design your character using Hero Forge and then send me the link to your character and I will design a custom VTT token of your character prior to our session for us to use.

Gameplay details

Battles can as detailed (ie, you duck low, avoiding the incoming axe as you thrust your sword right into his gut) or as vague (ie, you attack the orc and it hits) as the group feels comfortable with. I play with an “Open Door” policy — players may message me prior and during the game to discuss any sensitivities to particular subject matters so that I can facilitate a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

How will character creation work

If you have experience creating characters, feel free to prepare one and bring it with you to the game. If you have never created a character before, I can walk you through it. We will be using D&D Beyond for character creation, so if possible, please sign up for an account prior to our first session. If you are familiar with the game and prefer to track your character on paper, feel free to do so, although it would also be appreciated if you could create a character on D&D Beyond as well for encounter tracking purposes.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
